@sjo_thetwins Glad to hear the appointment went well!
@CopperBoom86 I just wanted to add that you should be bragging-- losing all that weight is a big deal and you should be proud!
@bnsmith85 I would be hesitant to pull all tags off and wash only because we had such an enormous collection of clothes from well-meaning friends, family, and customers that DD never got through them all. I wish I waited and exchanged them for later month PJs or other necessities that we needed as time went on. As a newborn, she basically lived in onesies and swaddling wraps and then later on, mostly just pajamas (since she was born in December and we mainly holed up during the winter).
@rozANDbenSINCE2001 ... But do you think any stores are going to take back clothes without a receipt that were purchased back in like March? That's why I was waiting before, but then I realized I don't have receipts for any of this and don't know where some of it came from so I'm not sure there's much I could do with it eve if we don't use it. Thoughts?
@bnsmith85 I pulled the tags and started washing everything today because I have SO many clothes. But they range from newborn to 4T. If I get any more newborn or 3 month clothes, which I assume I will at the shower, I'll wait to wash them. It definitely makes me feel better to have started getting things ready, and he'll need some clothes those first few days, so I'm glad I started.
@bnsmith85 I know this is going to sound shady AF, but when we couldn't find the receipts or couldn't remember where we got something, we took them back to stores we knew carried the clothing line and have a pretty lax exchange/return policy like Kohl's. They took back almost everything Carter's. I hope that helps!

@rozANDbenSINCE2001Its not shady at all. I used to work at Target and as long as we sold the item, we would take it back without a receipt. I once spent twenty minutes with someone scanning a LOT of boxes of diapers to see which ones she could return because her baby was already too big. She didn't have gift receipts or any idea where people had bought the diapers. Places are usually pretty understanding because they know parents get a lot of stuff they need to exchange at showers.
@krzyriver That makes me feel a lot better! To be fair, the girls at Kohl's gave us no grief when we walked in with our two bags of clothes. I just felt kinda guilty!
You guys, my heart is so sad. My mom and step dad rescued a pup... a pitbull. They have 2 other dogs and didn't think anything of it (personally, I would have checked first, but my mom is so used to her old land person who was a such a dog lover I don't think it crossed her mind). Los Angeles is a pretty pit friendly city and we've always had pits and never had an issue. Well, they moved to Carlsbad a few years ago and I guess things are a little different there. Their land lady first said it was an insurance issue so they said they would get a personal insurance plan for him. But she's changed her tune and now says they have to get rid of the dog or move because pits are "evil and she has a moral obligation to the neighborhood and kids."
WTF. I would take him in a heartbeat, but we have 2 already and with a baby on the way... I will not, however, let him go back to the shelter so we're working on finding him a new home. It just makes me so sad.
@Julia70286 this makes me so angry! I hate the stigma around Bulls. I have never met an unfriendly bull breed, especially pit bull. I wish people would educate themselves. I'll keep your mom in my thoughts I hope she can find the dog a good home or the landlord comes around .
Ps this reminded me if you guys haven't watched "the champions" on Netflix you should. It's about the pits rescued from Michael Vick and it is so good.
SO and I have been together: 5 Years+ BFP: 03/10 First Baby: 10/20/2016
@Julia70286, that is AWFUL! I've seen rental ads that say: "dogs allowed, breed restrictions" and it's so so so sad to me, because all the pits I know are the sweetest smartest dogs.
@annabenanna@MRSCORKER and @Ashleymn ... WE FOUND HIM A NEW HOME! He's making a big move to Chicago, but my oldest brother and his wife are taking him! I am literally crying happy tears! That was quick.
@Julia70286 I am SO happy for this dog! I was literally trying to tell my SO we need another dog and its a pit bull lmao. Happy he got his forever home so soon.
SO and I have been together: 5 Years+ BFP: 03/10 First Baby: 10/20/2016
@Julia70286 This makes my heart so happy! I needed this news... 2 friends of mine had to each put their dogs down between yesterday and today because of cancer. They were only 5 and 6 and it all happened so fast. It all just broke my heart. I'm a huge dog lover and was about to start crying again when I read your news. So glad this pup gets a happy ending, and thank you for your work to make sure he does!
@Julia70286 That's so exciting to hear your brother will be taking him!! We have a pit bull ban here in Ontario (Canada) and I think it's one of the most stupidest things ever! It should be the breed that people are not allowed to own, but the people that are not allowed to own ANY breed!
I can seriously face palm myself right now with this stupid pregnancy brain! Hubby and I play softball on Sundays, but since being pregnant, I'm just in a supportive role (score keeping, meetings, equipment, etc). I have a clipboard that I put my lineup on, and yea I left it at the diamond, but only just realized it today...a good 4 days later. Luckily it was only from the dollar store, and I was thinking of changing it anyway to a white board so I can write the line up on the spot once I know who shows up, but still I hate this forgetting business!!
@bnsmith85 I'm waiting for many of the same reasons as mrscorker, but if I can't take them back, I also plan to take unworn things to a baby consignment store to sell as new.
Good idea @ashleyp625! I never thought about consignment as an option. My MIL has gifted us a few gems like this that I'm sure she got from TJ Maxx (because that's her favorite place) and most of them are rando brands so consignment would definitely be the best option.... That or donation.
I did take the tags off of the clothes we have so far, washed them and put them away. Makes me feel a little better about getting things done haha but I can see why you would hold off on newborn in case they don't fit in it when they come out. I'm really not worried about having too many clothes and wanting to exchange for things later on, I will change this kid 10 times a day so he can wear all his clothes if necessary lol my mom says that's what she did with me and my brother. Why not, they're only that little once! I'm gonna have fun with it
@bnsmith85 We might have the same mother in law, hahaha. I received quite a few of those. She actually asked me if DD had a bonnet for Easter...
@LGW2015 It is a lot of fun to dress up babies! I didn't change DD often when she was very small because she was so fragile and she has never been a good sleeper so I was always terrified to wake her. She was also a temperamental little thing so I was basically her hostage, lol. But you're right, a lot of people change their baby's outfits multiple times a day so it's quite possible to go through tons of clothes!
@LGW2015 I havent bought or gotten a ton of new clothes yet but I have a ton of hand me downs from a friend already. What I have bought is going to have the tags off and washed and I probably will change his outfit a couple times a day too, whether necessary or not
On another note, at dinner last night we were eating with some friends. They had other friends in town for the night who had two boys. One going into 1st grade and one going into 3rd. Apparently the 1st grader has some behavioral issues and is a bully to other kids (like beats up people for his older brother). Randomly in the middle of dinner, the 1st grader gets up and pulls the bar stool out from under his brother and his brother goes tumbling to the ground, as does the stool. Luckily the kid wasn't hurt, but what did the parents do? Sit there and laugh. I was kind of taken aback by this. That was a long fall onto a hard floor and he's lucky he didn't hit the bar on the way down.

@rozANDbenSINCE2001 bahaha... well, you can have the one that goes with this outfit if you really want it My MIL is hit or miss. The good news is, most of what she got this go round was either super freakin' adorable or at least okay and usable. She went rogue on that one pictured above and a few others. A for effort
@LGW2015 I plan on doing the same! My brother and SIL keep my niece is sleepers all day, and we've all bought outfits for her, but never seen her in them. She's almost a year and I've only seen her in 2 outfits, unless my mom has dressed her up when she was babysitting. I plan on dressing my little guy.
@ibabyloveb87 that's horrible! I really try not to blame parents for a child's actions, but you have to wonder if this kid's behavioural issues are stemming from getting a positive reaction (laughter). I was at a friend's house a few weeks ago and they have a 7 year old and a 5 year old. The 7 year old had a bit of an attitude that was being received as rude (not only by me but a few other friends that were there as well). He started saying something with the tone, but his information was wrong, and even though his dad tried to tell him he was wrong, he wasn't having it, so I piped up and said something to the kid. He couldn't figure out how to prove me wrong, so instead he threw the dice he had in his hand at me. It did hit my arm, but he didn't put power behind his throw so it didn't hurt. His parents just told him to pick up his dice because he doesn't throw things, and that was it. I was surprised more wasn't said, but then again the feeling was I brought it on cause I tried arguing with a 7 year old.
@LauraPCOS and @LGW2015 ... y'all are so ambitious! I have zero expectations for myself with regard to the outfit thing. I know how poorly I function on little sleep and fully expect to be one of those parents who's kid lives in onesies for the first few months of their life. lol
Thanks ladies! But I wanna conk myself for not taking the day off..... Why did I do that???? I just took half the day off. But I feel like I still have a million things to do. On the other hand, I made my bouquet last night! It was actually super fun! SO was gonna pay $75 for a bouquet, and I was like "helllll no. let's go to trader joe's and grab flowers. ill make it myself"
So we're planning to visit my brother and his wife in MA next weekend for the 4th - it's our first trip to their new house. I was kind of pumped because 1.) I love hanging with them and we don't get to do it enough, 2.) we NEVER have actual 4th of July plans, so I was excited to be doing something! and 3.) their new house came with a pool and a deck and I was soooo looking forward to plopping my pregnant butt poolside for the weekend and chilling.
Well, some friends of my brother's and their girlfriends are now apparently coming for the weekend, too. I actually know the guy friends of my bro's but I'm not familiar with their GFs. Now, I'm usually all for hanging with people, my husband and I are actually really good at adapting and making new friends - but part of me just wants to throw a little kid tantrum and be like, "I just wanted it to be us!" I don't get to see them all that often and I feel like the attention will be spread thin. I also didn't want to wear makeup or get out of gym clothes the whole time and be comfortable (well, as comfortable as I can be) in my bathing suit... I have a hard enough time wearing one while NOT pregnant, and even in front of my husband, not to mention my knock-out sister-in-law (who I totally adore), but now there's going to be 2 other couples, and I just feel all the insecurity jitters building up... Plus, talk about bringing the wet blanket to the party - the older sister, who has to bring her 2 dogs and who's all knocked up and fat and can't drink. I mean, he totally asked me if it was fine if they could all come - but what was I supposed to say, No? I could tell he was excited to have them all come, too! *Sigh* I'll get over it and I'm sure it will be fine, but just wanted to pout for a minute.
@LMNOBaby, I get what you're saying because every time I'm in a gathering of friends (who I actually know!) and they're all drinking and cute and slim, I feel so big and ugly and boring. Although that's just usually in the beginning... after I warm up, it's all fine. I think you'll do great. You will be beautiful and funny and witty, and don't even worry about the bathing suit. Plus maybe the friends will be super nice and awesome!
@emmaaa, DIY is the way to go! I seriously am shocked at prices of florists! Although I know they have to make a living too.
so excited... A big weight has been lifted for me, just now... My MIL just text and said that she and her sister want to get us the car seat and stroller as a shower gift. She wanted to know if they could order from Amazon instead of off the registry... OF COURSE you can! Thank goodness they're doing this! Those things were so expensive and obviously really important (car seat anyway). I've been stressing about getting the critical things in time in case I go into labor early. Time to take a sigh of relief
**Possible TW** You guys.... a woman my H works with is pregnant with her first child. She's full term. Her husband died of a massive heart attack in his sleep last night and she went into labor today. I am so incredibly heart broken for her. I don't know her so I can't really offer support or sympathy but I just can't imagine. She is living my worst nightmare and what I tell my H I fear the most almost daily. I hope she has a strong support system around her
