So is anyone here really into couponing or have any good tips on saving? As a STM I do what I can but I'm looking to do more. I'd love to procure a serious stash of household items for back up.
I love couponing! I mainly use apps and submit my purchase info via my receipts to get money or gift cards back. A lot of the apps I use combine with printed coupons and so this maximises your savings even more!
Here is a list of apps I use and a description of each one:
Shopkick: https://get.shopkick.com/fremont44751 This app awards you points for walking into stores and scanning barcodes on various products. In exchange, you get gift cards to places like Target, Walmart, Toys R Us...
Receipt Hog: https://app.receipthog.com/r/crind715 With the app, you earn points for taking photos of your receipts. Once you receive a certain amount of points, you can earn money in the form of either PayPal credit or Amazon gift card.
Ibotta: https://ibotta.com/r/pwsebwp I use this app after I've gone to the supermarket. You scan in items that you purchase and get rebates for these items. Once you reach a certain amount ($10) in rebates, you can cash in for a gift card. I've gotten back hundreds of dollars this way.
Checkout 51: https://itunes.apple.com/app/checkout-51/id577333970 For this app, you just snap a photo of your receipt and then receive rebates for items purchased. They rarely have items up for rebate that I normally buy, but they have a "pick your own offer" each week which is basically what I use it for.
Shopmium: https://shopmium.com/en/app (use referral code KAMHMEAW when you sign up for a free Lindt chocolate bar!) This app sometimes has some decent rebates. The money you earn goes directly to a paypal account, so you can access it very quickly.
Shrink: https://shk.io/m/9wAq6NqVPn This app has a lot of rebates for "natural" foods. It also periodically includes rebates for generic non-brand items like "a dozen eggs" or "a gallon of milk".
Find&Save: https://bnc.lt/l/8bsFZRkAya (use code CHDF when you first sign up). This app works kind of like Ebates.com but for in store purchases. You upload photos of your receipts and receive a certain % of cash back for your purchases. The list of stores and the amount you get back varies.
I also use websites like www.coupons.com and www.inboxdollars.com to find coupons to print. And be sure to also go directly to manufacturer websites because often you can find coupons for whatever you are looking for. Free money for the win!
Ooh, and if there is a Harris Teeter nearby, this week they are doubling all coupons up to $2.00. It's really awesome and a great time to stock up!
I'm also big into couponing. I rarely pay full price for anything and regularly stock up on diapers/wipes. I use many of the apps listed above. My biggest tip is to figure out what store(s) you shop at most often and then find a coupon match-up blog that does the work for you. For instance, I shop mostly at Giant Eagle and have a blog that literally does the work for me.
It's a lot of work to just find good coupons online or any in the newspaper. So I just stick to my Dillons coupons, which include ones exclusive for their store (save on store brand meat, bread, produce ) I also use Ibotta, Checkout 51, and Savings Star when I have items on my list that match up with their savings.

@atcwag I will definitely look into store specific blogs!
Side Note: I have literally never heard of Harris Teeter or Giant Eagle but I have also never lived outside of the Midwest.
