  • @kellybean1988 Yay for your LO being a fetus now! The flakey nipple thing is a thing for me too but I had no idea what was going on at first... just random little white specks, I thought it was dried colostrum for a couple of days lol... nope, just dry nipples.
  • Morning!

How far along are you? EDD?  8+2, 1/28/17

How are you feeling? Pretty good, but I've been having some light, brown spotting since my u/s on Thursday. I called my RE on Friday when it started, and they said it was common and just to let them know if it got heavier or turned red, which it hasn't. But it just keeps coming back. I wish it would go away. I have my first OB appointment tomorrow, so I'll see what she says about it.

R/R/Other:  It's still kind of sinking in that we are having twins. We are really excited, but also it's really overwhelming, and I can't think about things for too long without going into panic mode. I know I have a lot of research to do, but I am going to just do it in small doses for now.

Questions: I have a long list for my OB tomorrow, but nothing major.

GTKY - Keeping it simple today -- what's your favorite color/kind of colors? My favorite color is purple. In general, I'm drawn to pale, calming colors.

  • @Lecool good luck at your appointment today! I have been thinking about buying maternity pants for work. Some of my work pants were already getting too tight before my BFP thanks to my awful eating habits, so now they are really bad. I feel like there's no point in buying pants in a bigger size that will only work for a few more weeks, might as well go right to maternity.

@Lecool Good luck at your appointment! Hope your LO puts on a good show for you :) Re: pants, I've just been skipping that whole mess and wearing dresses. If I'm working out I do yoga shorts that have a really tall, stretchy waistband (like these but not pants), which has been really comfy. Obviously not much help for office setting though!

@sldp123 You probably already know this and have heard it from others but it's pretty normal to have a few days spotting after an ultrasound since it irritates your cervix :) Hopefully it stops for you soon! I had some brown spotting around week 8 too but I think it was just breakthrough bleeding since that's normally around when your 2nd missed AF would take place.

How far along are you? EDD?
12 weeks tomorrow, entering that mature growth stage where all the stuff is there and just needs to get bigger :)

How are you feeling? I should probably knock on wood, but I feel REALLY good lately. Not like "not pregnant" but like I am and am starting to regain balance between being pregnant and my pre-pregnancy life. Starting to get good amounts of exercise again, eating healthy foods (with a few weird things thrown in), and starting to feel really connected and bonded to this LO. I'm really grateful for feeling that way because I know that's not how everyone experiences pregnancy.

R/R/Other:  This whole pregnancy I've been really bothered by the fact that I haven't had breast tenderness... we were leaving a barbecue/party Saturday evening and three people hugged me on my way out... the first person was a guy who was a REALLY strong hugger and oh my god did my breasts hurt for like 20 minutes after leaving :|

Questions: Is anyone else yet budgeting their non-medical baby expenses? I started putting together my Amazon registry over the weekend and was like "holy crap, most of this stuff is not terribly expensive but there's just SO much stuff you need and it just adds up so quickly!" -- so easy to just think about crib, carseat, stroller and then completely forget about burp cloths, childproofing stuff, diaper bag, diaper pails, baby-sensitive soaps, etc etc.

GTKY - Keeping it simple today -- what's your favorite color/kind of colors? I don't really have a favorite color per se, but I really love bold and vibrant color combinations -- like sky blue with red or lime green with navy blue.

@canavara Yay, you're almost done with 1st Tri! :) I had a minor budget freak out over the weekend when the H and I were doing our bi-monthly budget hash out. I'm stressed out by all the unknown expenses that will undoubtedly pop up. I don't know how to budget for a baby. I'm planning on doing some research this week and trying to figure out what we will need, and what we should expect to spend weekly on baby once he/she is here. For now, we're just putting as much in savings as we can.

Feeling this way too! Just so much "what things do we need that we don't even KNOW about yet". I'm fully prepared to make it to 38 weeks and suddenly the OB is like, "What do you mean you don't have a $15,000 plutonium belly button plug for the baby? That's just common sense."
  • @kellybean1988 omg the flaking. So bad.
How far along are you? EDD?
      9+5

How are you feeling? Weirdly good. I actually called and whined myself into an ultrasound tomorrow cause I can't shake this weird feeling that it's too early to feel good.

R/R/Other:  meh. Other than that annoying back and forth with myself "I'm not cramping and no spotting I'm fineeeee but this is weird no it's not fineeeee but it is" just glad my doctor is willing to ease my mind and do an ultrasound

Questions: anyone else tired of any sign of being disagreeable being blamed on pregnancy? My MIL takes all the girls to a theater show every year. This year I don't like the show they're seeing so I said I wasn't going and everyone blamed pregnancy hormones. Nope. I just don't wanna spend $150 on something I'm gonna hate.

GTKY - Keeping it simple today -- what's your favorite color/kind of colors? I love aquas and turquoises and seafoams. Every room in my house is grey or a shade of blue-green.
  • @Lecool I can't wait to hear how your appointment went! I have been using the hairband trick but my pants are still too tight. I tried a larger pant size I had packed away and they were still too big. I just can't justify buying maternity pants yet- not sure why.

How far along are you? EDD?  10w/ 1.16.17

How are you feeling? I just feel so tired/exhausted all the time. And exerting too much energy makes me feel nauseous. I have some pulling in my hip area and behind my belly button. I feel like I am peeing all the time and I'm always hungry but nothing sounds good.

R/R/Other: I totally called in from work today. I just feel so tired and couldn't face a Monday. I haven't left my bed aside from grabbing food and going to the bathroom.

Questions: Anybody else experiencing heart palpitations? Sounds like they're probably normal...

GTKY - Keeping it simple today -- what's your favorite color/kind of colors? I wear a lot of black or white but I love the color green.

  • @loveinak I've had heart palpitations a few times this pregnancy but with my last one, I was having them a lot... like every single day... and my OB wanted me to go see a cardiologist to be safe (of course, I went and they did an echocardiogram and the cardiologist was like, "these results are completely unremarkable, why are you here again??") so if yours get more frequent, might be worth mentioning to your OB just in case!
  • @canavara Thanks! I feel like they are pretty much every day but they are usually pretty quick. I was just looking in to it and read heartburn can also cause palpitations, which would also make sense.
  • @loveinak Yeah that's what my OB said after seeing the boring cardio results :) It's almost always nothing serious--I had just mentioned it in passing during a normal prenatal appt when they asked about any symptoms.
  • How far along are you? EDD?  8+5 since my dating changed, 1/25/17

How are you feeling? Less nausea and more tired, which I keep trying to reassure myself isn't a bad sign.

R/R/Other: My ultrasound went great and I was measuring ahead of schedule! Heartbeat was 170. Also, I have been way more gassy than usual with really painful bursts. Ow.

Questions: Did everyone see Finding Dory? It was so cute!

GTKY - Keeping it simple today -- what's your favorite color/kind of colors? I love blues and purples, like this:

How are you feeling?  Still mild queasiness most of the day, super sore boobs, not much of an appetite but no aversions when I do eat. Definitely no motivation for much of anything.

R/R/Other:  First ultrasound on Wednesday morning  can't wait!! Get to see the heartbeat AND see how many are in there. Should be just 1...but I'm at higher risk of multiples, so who knows.

Questions: If my MS is just mild queasiness still, could it still get worse? Or at this point can I count on this being the worse it'll probably be?

GTKY - Keeping it simple today -- what's your favorite color/kind of colors? Favorite color is purple. I love bright colors, though. Yellow, reds, turquoise, coral.

  • @Lecool so glad you had a good appointment! My OB's office said they may not even try to hear the heartbeat today (8+3) because it's hit or miss this early with the office doppler, so I was really hoping you'd get to at least see it. That's great news!

How are you feeling? Fine. Tired, the tired is getting more and more.  That's mostly it though, unless I don't eat then I'm ravenous and upset stomach. But I'm mostly good about it.

R/R/Other:  Trying to feel lucky that I'm doing just fine. Re:pants. My pants are a little tight, but I can still wear my jeans and I've gone to another hole on my belt. That's all. I think I look bigger... but I've gained no weight. (I did a few weeks of gain 1lb, lose 2, gain 1, etc. Note I'm back where I started).

But I haven't even looked at a registry yet and you guys are making me nervous. I'll have to start that.

    Questions: Not right now.

GTKY - Keeping it simple today -- what's your favorite color/kind of colors? Blue is my favorite. Dark or bright mostly. Loved the flowers @PaukMeKiande posted. I'm generally attracted to bold cool colors..
  • @Mylitta   I started a registry a while back but can't make myself get on and look at it again until I have my first appointment and know that everything is ok...I just can't. I get it!

  • @Mylitta I haven't even thought about my registry this time. I didn't start my last one until 20 weeks so I probably won't this time around either.
I had my follow up US today! Baby still looks great so my randomly disappearing symptoms were exactly what we thought, just luck of the draw this time around, but I'm glad we followed up!
  • @cabu14 Is it Dicelgis? Because it's been magic for me. It works best for me if I take 2 around 10pm and it takes about two days before you no longer experience the nausea.
Also, I didn't get to hear a heartbeat until 10 weeks. Will you get to go back in a few weeks?
  • cabu14cabu14 member
@loveinak Yes! Dicelgis I will be picking it up tomorrow that sounds wonderful! :)  My next appointment is in 4 weeks, on July 18th so I'll be around 12 weeks!

  • @cabu14 if they're just using an abdominal doppler then yes it is probably too early to hear the hb. Also now we're due date twins lol.

@lecool so glad your appointment went well!

@Mylitta I had a babyli.st made while ttc because it was private and I could store all the "cool and unique" baby items there I found crom pinterest and such. I made a full buybuybaby registry at 6 weeks
    *TW*
...but that was because when I had my previous loss I felt really sad that I hadnt told anyone or done anything to make it feel like a real pregnancy. So making a registry was a way for me to feel like it was real and sort of validate it, just in case the worst were to happen.

@cabu14 The doctor told me yesterday that it was too early to hear the heartbeat. We did see it on the ultrasound - it looked just like really quick flickers. My next appointment is also July 18th!

Question - Any of you guys doing the First Trimester screen for chromosome abnormalities? My doctor asked if we wanted to do it, and I had done no research on it at all. She said it can't hurt, and would just give us more information, so I'm scheduled to do it on July 21st.

ETA P.S. No, @PaukMeKiande! Don't leave me behind on Fridays! :( (totally kidding, but I'll miss you!)

@lecool  I decided not to do the screening.  My OB said it just more information, and it is more of a personal preference - a do you like surprises kind of thing.

This may be a TW but I will put my opinion on the tests here..she gave me the scenario of if my child has Downs Syndrome, would I want to have that information early and possibly be more prepared.  I looked at my husband and said - nothing will prepare us for that or anything else negative.  And with the risk of false positives (she said ~5%) I just didn't want to deal with it.  One of the books I was reading said that if you get a positive, you may find it necessary to do further testing depending on the results.. the books stated some of the further testing can be more invasive and could cause accidental abortions which really freaked me out, so I would rather walk blindly into a situation than spend my pregnancy in doubt/worry/contemplation.

  • @PaukMeKiande For changing ticker days I think the consensus was to stick with where you are. Since things seem to change frequently and you are already with that group that you just stick it out...

Thank you to everyone who made me feel like I wasn't too far behind!

Question: My H is not telling his family. We met with his mom & sdad to tell them. We had a conversation about babies! But nothing. Lunch ends, we leave, the next day we fly to NY. Now in NY with dad & smom. Two days he's said nothing. We agreed to tell then early to separate from sister's graduation. I ask maybe he wants to ask sister what she wants. Ok. We went on a 45 minute walk with her alone today. Never brought it up. Never told anyone.
We agreed he would tell his family because their his, plus it means more for him to tell them. He asked if I moved if we tell this early so that he could do it face to face. I'm very confused. What do I do? He's sgreeing he's not abs should be doing it. He agreed with all plans. No hint of execution... and he's not shy. Help?
  • @Lecool I'm doing the panorama on the 6th- my midwife says he will test as early as 12 weeks.
  • @Mylitta it can be confusing trying to guess what goes on in our husbands minds! Mine tends to be more quiet and wouldn't have told his family early on if it wasn't for me pushing it bc his sister just had a baby and I had a million questions, plus I knew they would be psyched. Is it possible he's holding back for fear of something going wrong? I would say confront him on it. It does more damage when we assume...its best to hear from him. Maybe share with him your fears, or confront him on not telling someone after saying he would. Obviously you want to do it in a non-threatening way,  "I've noticed you have chosen not to tell your sister when you previously agreed to, and I'm just confused. Can you help me understand so at least I'm not left in the dark?" That kind of thing? Each person is different. Or have you already confronted him? Good luck! Let us know if he decides to tell his family :)

Also...I haven't been participating in the ticker change posts bc I had no idea what they were for!! How do you know what day you're in?

*edit words and TW* @Lecool   I'm going to agree w/ @cabu14  here-- I'm electing to NOT do genetic testing #1 because I'm not going to terminate anything if I find out that my child will have any kind of special needs, and I don't feel the need to "prepare" ahead of time for that. Also, I'm a wimp. I already have to push this baby out of my hoohah which is going to hurt like hell, so why would I elect to have a chance to feel pain with further tests in between now and then? I do completely understand why people get genetic testing, I really do, but it's just not for me.

I looked at the "amniocentesis" procedure in "What to Expect" and holy OUCH, it looks awful. Plus, both CVS and amniocentesis carry a TINY risk for loss, so I'm just gonna say no to it all unless it becomes necessary for some reason.

  • @Lecool we are going to be doing the genetic testing because first of all, I will be 35 when I deliver so there is a higher risk of abnormalities, and secondly, I just feel like more information is always better. I totally understand the view point that nothing would change, so what's the point? But some of the conditions they are screening for are not compatible with life. I would rather find that out now than at 40 weeks when I think I'm going to be bringing home a healthy baby. Not that it would be any easier of course, I just prefer to be prepared.

  • @sweetyjenj Thanks for the response. I have discussed it with him but he doesn't really come up with an answer. I've told him if he doesn't want to share, that is fine, I was just confused. He said he does want to share and he plans to do it, but he hasn't. So I guess we'll just see. Eventually he has to tell them somehow... even if it ends up being a phone call. No worries. I was just really stressed about it last night thinking that maybe my worries were affecting what he wanted to do... and I was somehow holding him back. I don't want him to miss out because I get nervous.

Also ticker change. You participate on the day of the week your pregnancy week starts. So my week changes on Saturdays. I'll be 10w on Saturday, so I participate in the Saturday thread. . Make sense?
