1st Trimester

Got a cold- help

Darn it, I was doing so well and then DH got sick and now, so I am. I am miserable. I hear Tylenol is pretty much all you can take. I'm getting a little nervous because I'm blowing out yellow boogs (sorry-tmi).

DH is so cute though. He went out last night to get some tylenol and tissue and he brought me back a heart-shaped box with yummy chocolates in it. The box read "You are Dyno-mite" with a pic of a goofy looking dinosaur on it. I couldnt help but laugh.

So does anyone have any tips on how to get through this cold?? I need all the help I can get.

You are almost out of your 1st tri!  You might want to call your ob tomorrow because once you are out of the 1st tri, there are other things that you can take.

Saline power spray and the nettie pot help a lot.  Feel better soon!

  • Go to the baby section at the grocery store and get some Johnson & Johnson Vapor Bath. ?Then take a long, hot bath:). ?You can also try a humidifier at night or a Vick's plug in, as well as some saline nasal spray to clear up your congestion. ?That's what I do for DD when she has a cold (there is no cold medicine for babies) and it works wonders!
  • Regular Sudafed was on my "approved" drug list after 12 weeks.

    Feel better soon!

  • Thanks ladies Smile

  • I was right where  you are when I got my killer cold. My OB said clariton D was ok to take, cough drops, and vicks is ok to use. The clariton didnt help me any. Just get lots of rest and keep the kleenex handy! Hope you feel better soon!
  • Thanks Rinners.

I have trying to get a lot of sleep but I'm so stuffy it keeps me up. I think I will try some vicks tonight.

  • When I had the flu I called the nurse and she said yes to Tylenol, plain Robitussin, Sudafed and Vicks Vapor Rub and no to any multi-symptom medicines. Feel better!

  • My ob said anything that starts with the word Tylenol was okay (regular Tylenol, Tylenol PM, Tylenol cold, etc).  But she did cution me to try to use it sparingly, and try vaporizer, etc before taking medicine, but if I needed it I should go ahead and take it.
  • I have a cold, too. It really sucks. I've been taking theraflu and robutussen. I read in one of my books that the ingredients in these medicines were okay. Get well, soon.
