Re: April/May IF success group

  • Hi ladies! I was out of town all weekend in CA for my mom's 60th bday party. I keep waiting for this whole tired thing to go away. Tomorrow is the start of week 13 for me so I thought I'd feel a little more energy since I'm almost done with 1st trimester. The heat could also be making it worse too.

We officially announced yesterday to the world. There were so many people who already knew that we figured father's day would be a fun day to announce it on. I think having our NT Scan and the NIPT bloodwork last week helped us feel so much better seeing that everything looked great. The NT scan is really just a longer ultrasound where they looked at all of the organs to see how they were forming.  They measure for Downs Syndrome, looked at the stomach, bladder, brain, heart, arms, and legs. The blood work is just a finger prick.

  • Hey ladies,
I'm the same way with food. I don't really eat with my husband because I have no idea what I'm going to want or if I'm going to be nauseous. Yesterday I had cereal and French fries for dinner. Maybe not the healthiest but I'm just trying to eat anything I can until the nausea goes away. I need to call and see if nipt testing is covered by my insurance. Hope you all are having a great day!
  • Joyzie77 - Hoping all of the testing is covered by insurance. I'm not sure if all insurance carriers do cover it but they should. This should really become standard in all prenatal care as far as I'm concerned!

  • @griffin5413 I called today to get the billing code to see if my insurance covers it. I guess if they don't I could skip it because I have had genetic testing done on the embryo but I just wanted to have it done since it's just blood testing. We will see.
  • @dragonfaerie aww he's very thoughtful.
@Griffin5413 how awesome to announce on Father's day. I hope all insurances cover the tests.
@Joyzie77 interesting combo the cereal and fries. I haven't had any weird cravings yet, but I'm preparing myself.

@NurseTMD85 Praying for you. Glad the U/S went well and hope #2 pulls through!

I had my 8 week ultrasound today - everything looked good.  I'm at 8w1d but measuring a day ahead still and heartbeat of 160.  The scariest part - I'm officially released to my OB.  OMG. I've been with my RE for 2.5 years and I don't know what to do with myself.  We have another appointment in 2.5 weeks with the OB.  DH is so happy but I think I'm still shock that I've actually been able to sustain a pregnancy this long and afraid something's going to happen any minute. Wish I could relax and enjoy more!

Also my weird food aversions continue.  Today for lunch DH and I went to a diner - I had peanut butter toast and mashed potatoes.  Last night for dinner I had pickle popcorn, watermelon, pistachios and saltines for dinner. So balanced and healthy LOL.  I crack up reading everyone else food issues too.

  • So my OB appt yesterday kind of bummed me out. I was all excited b/c I finally finished all of my IVF meds and was ready for a "normal pregnancy." Well now my dr is concerned that I have borderline high blood pressure. So I need to have a perinatal consult to see what they recommend. She said she doesn't want me to be discouraged b/c we are just being preventative but I'm still bummed. I've been doing everything right. Other than that baby is doing well so I'm trying to focus on that.

I had my first ob appointment at 9 weeks 2 days. Everything looked good. The baby was wiggling around and moving it's arms.

**warning ahead for those who get grossed out easily**
Everything was fine until that evening. I had a major scare. Since I'm still taking Endometrin inserts for a few more days, I didn't think anything of it when I felt some sort of leaking. I wear a pantyliner, so I wasn't too concerned. It usually happens at some point during the day usually. A few minutes later when I went to the bathroom, I noticed that I was bleeding..not just filling the pantyliner, but through my underwear and jeans. I had dh get me new clothes and a pad. He called the doctor's office emergency line. A little while later I spoke to the doctor who told me I could come in this morning.

So in the next hour, I filled up the pad I was wearing. From what I ready, the thing that kept me from completely freaking out was that it although it was a lot of blood, it was just blood. I did not have any other unusual symptoms like bad cramping.  I just kept my feet up and took it easy. It was late anyway. I got up a few times in the night and early morning and the bleeding was either stopping or at least slowing down. I still didn't have any other symptoms.  This morning, I ate breakfast early and went back to sleep. A couple of hours later, I was feeling mildly nauseous and very hungry. I felt that was a good sign. For the last few weeks, I haven't had any nausea. I just would suddenly find myself feeling really hungry and sometimes had indegestion. However, yesterday morning, I felt a little neaseous in the morning as well as today. To me, it was a sign, that the baby might be ok.

The bleeding has continued to slow down and has been very light most of the day. The doctor did another ultrasound. The good news was that the baby was still very active in there and the legs were kicking. The doctor think the sac may have separated a little. When reading up on this, I heard other people have this happen and went on to have a successful pregnancy. I was told that everything else looks good.  This did not affect the baby. I was told to contact the doctor if I have more bleeding that fills up pads again. I was told not to exercise or lift anything heavy until after the 12 week appointment. I'm just working part time for the summer, and I was told that was fine.

So right now, I'm feeling positive but don't feel like I'm in the clear yet. DH has been very supportive and helpful. He was very concerned, but I think he feels better now as well.
  • @LynnNJ I'm sorry to hear about your scare, I totally understand how worrying that can be. But I am glad to hear that all is ok with you and the baby. It's great that your doctor was able to see you right away and that you have a supportive husband by your side. Keeping my fingers crossed that all will be ok for you!

  • @dragonfaerie Overall, I am good. I have my moments where I freak out and think - is this really going to happen? but mostly I am excited. The nausea and fatigue are sticking around and I have been having some crazy abdominal pains (maybe RLP?) I am counting the days until my next ultrasound but having the Doppler has reassured me. I am really looking forward to coming off the progesterone and estrace but I am not sure when that might be as I am not working with my RE anymore (as they are in Prague). I imagine it'll be around 12 weeks.  How are you??!!

  • How's everyone doing? It's been quiet here lately. @susykat77 I've had abdominal pain since early on. I know the RLP isn't until later but I've had pain on each side for some time now. Where is everyone at in terms of weeks? I am 12 weeks today. Wohoo!

  • ** lurking ** @lynnnj I am so sorry your experience sounds similar to mine ! I have had two episodes of very heavy bleeding - one at 5-6 weeks and one at about 15 weeks .  One of the times even with cramps and I thought it was the end . I'm now 19 weeks and all is still good ! My doc doesn't appear too concerned . It helped me to read stories of other women with similar experiences with bleeding that went on to have healthy pregnancies !! I hope the bleeding lets up and doesn't come back - I know how alarming and scary it is even when the doc says all is ok ! Hang in there !!

@Joyzie77 I know I'm told it to early for RLP but the sensations are so strange.
