I'm looking for a novel to read, something relating to parenting/family/childbirth, or just something that really had an impact on how you view motherhood! Any suggestions are welcome

Its an American journalist who moved to France because of her husbands job (I think) and they started their family there. It's all about her observations on how the French culture parents vs. what she's used to seeing in America. I found it completely fascinating. Just an interesting look at how different the cultures can be, and how we may not do things the same way, but in the end we all just love our kids. She's funny and it's a really easy read.
I'm currently reading the Birth Order book by Kevin Leman, its interesting to read his theories on birth order, and I can see a lot of what he is saying in my family and in-laws, and our kids. He also talks about how your birth order might effect your parenting, work relationships, etc.
I also like the Read Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease, he covers how to/why you should read to your kids (beyond the obvious), what kinds of books to read etc. He also gives you a list of books to read and what ages they are appropriate to read to your kid, and when it is appropriate for your kid to read them by themselves.
I just finished The Best Yes by Lysa Terkuest. It gave me a lot to think about decision making wise, especially for those of us who like to overcommit to things. It's a Christian based book though, so if you are not Christian, you probably won't enjoy it.
Maybe this isn't what you had in mind, but I'm a fan of addresses pregnancy and child birth in fictionally entertaining ways with perhaps some reality to it) and so for that I have to suggest "Notes from the Underbelly" by Risa Green.
Obviously not informative, but sometimes I just need a break from all of that.
Not gonna lie but I actually liked Jenny McCarthys books about being pregnant. Shocking bc I can't stand her and can't stand the anti-vax agenda she helped move to the spotlight. But I found her books lighthearted and funny.
Didn't make me feel differently about motherhood or parenting as I wouldn't take advice from her but they made me laugh.
I recommend reading as many sleep training books as you can! There are so many different options out there, and I find it's good to have a game plan from the beginning and an understanding of how infants sleep. I was pretty anti-cry it out, so I started by reading the no cry sleep solution. When that didn't work I read "Good Night, Sleep Tight" and that one worked really well for us. However, I think if we had started out sooner with the no cry sleep solution it would have worked much better.
@Katemr1146 seconding Beinging Up Bébé! Saw you mention it last week and finally dusted off my copy - it's impossible to put down. I love the break from "philosophy" baby books. Instead, she gives you so much to consider from. Frame of Mind perspective.
