Mastitis is no joke!

I had a firm, sore area yesterday. Being a veteran EPer, I knew how handle a clogged duct. So...I did that. Warm compressed, massaged. Pumped to empty before bed, nursed baby at 11 and woke up ENGORGED like first milk at 2am! What the heck! I had chills and felt terrible. Nursed baby though he wasn't ready, then pumped about 15 minutes, relieving the pressure but not pain. Shivering, I got back in bed. By 4 am, I had a 102.5 fever, started puking and was in bad shape! I have never felt so terrible! Pumped to empty twice again, an hour apart. That broke my fever, interestingly.  Got ahold of my OB dr early, picking up antibiotics today. I am really surprised how sick I got so fast!

    Mastitis is the worst! I truly hope the antibiotics kick in quickly and that this is your one and only experience! I've had it once with each baby (3x), and hoping I don't get it with baby #4. Feel better soon!

    Its definitely gotten a tad worse over the course of the day, but after 1 dose of antibiotics I can say it seems to be calming back down!
