  • How far along are you?
    6 weeks

    How big is baby?
Size of a chocolate chip, sweet pea, or lady bug

    Appointments this week?
My first US will be Friday.

    Symptom changes?
Sore boobs, dizziness throughout the day but always in the morning, very emotional and weepy, constipation, still incredibly thirsty. Some foods don't sound that good, but I wouldn't say it's aversion or nausea. Also incredibly fatigued by like 1:30 or 2.

    Rant/Rave/Questions?
Still a little nervous I don't have MS (yet) but I am trying to just forget about that particular symptom.

Is dizziness normal? Especially so frequently?

GTKY: What's do you do for a living? Or are you a SAHM?
I am a first grade teacher in a pretty small, rural school district. I'm the only one who teaches first grade in our district. I love it, but loathe it at times as well.

  • paigeed - I also had dizziness. I've read it's b/c of lower blood pressure. So especially when I was gardening, squatting down and standing back up, I would feel light headed.

    How far along are you?
    7 weeks along today!
    How big is baby?
    Blueberry. So cute. :D
    Appointments this week?
    not till next week
    Symptom changes?
sore boobs with stabbing pain this week. constipation (more or less every day), so thirsty, fatigue - can barely stay awake in afternoons and I've been going to bed a couple hours early! Very minor nausea. My mom didn't have morning sickness, and I hope I don't either!
    Rant/Rave/Questions?
question - anyone have any experience getting a new job while preggers? I'm concerned about taking time off after birth. Looks like new employer won't be required to honor FMLA, and obv. I won't have accrued much PTO.

GTKY: What's do you do for a living? Or are you a SAHM?
We recently moved for DH's job, so I'm looking for work in non-profit management. I'm also a writer (science fiction/fantasy) and editor, which doesn't really pay the bills. :)

  • @fatstagnation glad to know dizziness is a normal thing. I usually have low BP, so I guess it makes sense why I am experiencing dizziness so frequently.

I have no experience with getting pregnant and changing jobs, could you look into their HR policies before changing? Or if you already have could you ask HR what their policy is. Some companies will grant you your 12 weeks even without being there the full year. Is there a sick-leave bank option?

Appointments this week? First US appointment this week.  Eek, nervous!

Symptom changes? Morning sickness started this past Friday... UGH.  Still extremely tired, too.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I ate my favorite soup this weekend and got sick and now even the mere thought of it makes me gag.  This morning sickness business really stinks!!

  • @fatstagnation - I'm in a similar boat. I got my BFP the week after I interviewed and was offered a job down in San Antonio. Hiring in higher ed is a pain in the arse, and clearly no one local was as good as I was (I was the only one asked for a second interview) but it scares me that I could move us down there and they could be pains in the arse about the situation. I start mid August and I'm hoping they'll honour the FMLA for me, but I honestly don't know. I haven't told them yet and won't until I get a year long binding contract - which will coincide with the first trimester so that will work well and it won't appear as if I'm hiding anything. Just normal precautions. DH won't be working yet (we have to get him a green card - I'm a US citizen but he isn't) so he'll take over baby duty pretty early on (relative to what we'd likely do in Canada) but I'll still need/want some time off...

    Congrats on your new job!
My DH is not a citizen either. He got his green card a couple years ago. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys. :)

Yeah, kinda afraid to tell them I'm pregnant before they hire me. Could be a deterrent. Can't control what they'll do anyway, so I'm trying to focus on the here-and-now.

  • @fatstagnation - thanks, I'm excited and nervous. in terms of your job potentials I wouldn't tell them before hiring that you were pregnant. I'd get hired, show how awesome you are and go from there. At this point in time it is none of their business...

    I know I'm a day late, but...

    How far along are you?
    I am 5 weeks 1 day

How big is baby? Our baby is roughly the size of an apple seed.

Appointments this week? Yesterday I got my first blood draw. My hcg levels were 7,101.  I'm anxiously waiting tomorrow so I can get my second one and see growth!

Symptom changes? Last week many of my symptoms gave me some time off, but some cramping and super exhaustion are back.

Rant/Rave/Questions? First, it is summer and I'd love to enjoy a beer.  Also, I hate keeping this a secret from everyone.

GTKY: What's do you do for a living? Or are you a SAHM? I am an elementary school teacher.

    How far along are you?
    5 weeks.

    How big is baby?
    Size of an Appleseed!

    Appointments this week?
Nope! I don't have my first appt until July 7th.

    Symptom changes?
Not really. I'm more tired than normal. I'm also constantly hungry!

    Rant/Rave/Questions?
I'm also a little nervous about the lack of MS. However, if I remember correctly, that didn't start for me during my other 3 pregnancies until 8ish weeks.

GTKY: What's do you do for a living? Or are you a SAHM?
    I am a SAHM. I've got 3 kids, ages 2,4, and 5!

  • How far along are you? 7 weeks!

    How big is baby? blueberry

Appointments this week? None this week.  I have my first OB/ultrasound next wednesday but until then it's pretty quiet.

Symptom changes? I went from being queasy all the time to feeling horrible and throwing up some of the time. Honestly, I'll take the latter.  I also feel like someone in constantly pinching my nipples which is odd and painful.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I'm ready to tell.  It's summer and everyone is drinking and I'm running out of excuses.  And I would also like to be able to say "I'm knocked up, feel like crap and plan on staying in my house all day".

GTKY: What's do you do for a living? Or are you a SAHM? I'm a corporate accountant.
  • @LJane good to hear someone else not have MS right now. I feel like I'm the only one. I get dizziness, but I still long for the MS reassurance. Maybe mine will set in, just later than usual.
