December 2016 Moms

Re: Monday Bitchfest

  • L woke up at 6 am, grabbed the cereal bowl from H's midnight snack, and dropped it on my head. So I woke up covered in milk and with a nasty headache.

  • When you're late to every single appointment that you have ever scheduled, you need to accept that it's not just traffic - you do not leave on time.  Sitting here waiting for someone who is 20+ mins late.... Again.
  • Also, we got some notification from our insurance that the hospital billed them for things that were not covered during the NT scan.  I hope the hospital fixes that bc I'm not going to be happy if I get a $500 bill.
  • Boss asks Friday for volunteers to work a 12 hour shift. I tell him I can't Monday, but I can do Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. He puts me for Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Can't do today because I have a meeting with my landlord PLUS the mandatory meeting the complex is having for the termite tenting. Sent the letter I got to him telling him I couldn't do it. His response. "Are you sure?" Seriously??????

  • I have to go to a landfill for a site visit Wednesday. A coworker is moving positions and I've been given a bunch of his work. I don't wanna do it. I don't know what to do with this stuff... waah

A coworker that I just spent the last 6 months training put in his notice. His wife accepted a job in another state. He knew about this possibility when he started here and still took the job without telling anyone. I've basically wasted six months of my time and now we have to hire and train someone in only five months before I go on maternity leave.

    Suck it Monday.
  • DD sick all weekend. I'm thinking croup. No sleep for me and Sesame Street marathon over here.
  • Not much to bitch about today, except for the fact that my desperate need to poop is threatening to make me late for a work luncheon in the big city north of me. I hate being late. :(
  • DS (2.5 yo) broke his leg on Saturday. :( We have a small 8 ft trampoline- DD jumped near him and although no one fell on each other, his knees went wonky from her jump and he broke his tibia. It was awful. He was hysterical for hours until the cast was on. We didn't sleep much at all that night, and although last night was a little better, I'm still worn out from that and carrying him around everywhere. And now we can't go to any parks or places where we normally play bc he would have to sit in the stroller watching DD and all other kids. So I feel bad for both of them. If anyone has tips for handling a two year old in a full leg, non- waterproof cast during the summer, send them my way. So far it's been lots of tv, iPad, play doh, and stroller walks. Gonna be a long 4 weeks....

  • I turned my alarm off this morning after hitting snooze once, and luckily woke up 20 minutes later. I got ready as fast as I could, and was only about 10 minutes late... which was pretty good. I'm salaried, so it really doesn't matter, but I like to be on time, or at least within a few minutes past the "start" time. But, nothing like rushing to get ready. On a Monday.

One of my co-workers, who likes to be facetious ALL the time. Your humor sucks, so you may as well just be blunt like you always are. It just makes you seem more of an ass than you already are.

I have something else, but I will wait until WTF Wednesday to post about it - it fits in that that much better.

  • @PharmDMom oh no, poor baby! Maybe he would like finger painting or some kind of toddler arts and crafts project, they have so many good ones on Pinterest. You're a good mama to be thinking about ways to keep him happy and occupied.
  • Our air conditioner froze over yesterday (uh...it was 90 degrees outside - how is that even possible?!??) so we spent the day in an 85 degree house. It was delightful. And by delightful I mean disgusting and horrible. The worst part is that it's always really hot on our third floor where the bedrooms are (this house is horrible as far as temperature management goes) so it was like a sauna when I tried to get to bed. I kept waking up, too, because I was worried my girls were going to get heatstroke during the night. Ugh! On a good note, it does seem to be working now. However, while I know that I should be thankful just to have a/c, I'm so paranoid it's going to go out again and it's making me crank(ier).

  • @PharmDMom can you do a water table but fill it with dry rice or beans instead? Nature hikes, finger painting, decorate sugar cookies, zoo, movie theater? Make your own "drive in movie theater with cardboard cars from boxes that he can decorate then eat snacks in while watching a movie? make blanket forts and tell stories with flashlights? even do that in a backyard tent.

@PharmDMom poor guy! I don't have any experience with a cast that big on someone that small.  Maybe a summer heavy on the library?  I definitely feel for him, when I was 8 I had really bad stitches in my leg over the summer and was pretty confined to what activities I could do.

@ashleaf2018 @jenlynne0624 We have fingerpaints and I thought about putting up our tent inside actually! Great ideas! I'm doing paint with water today, and I thought about taking the kids to see Finding Dory soon, I just don't know if he will sit through the whole thing. I mean, obviously he can't get up lol but you know what I mean. If he isnt into a show he whines or wants to go do something else. We have only been to one theater movie but it went on! I may take a chance on Dory. He loves our neighbor's sand table so maybe I can take this little chair we have and he can go over to sit and play with it. He's not allowed to stand at all so I just have to make sure he doesn't try to get up. Thanks for the ideas and I'm off to check Pinterest.

Our zoo has a ton of play areas and stuff to climb on so that's why I'm hesitant to go there. He is a get out and go do kind of kid so I'm pretty sure he would get frustrated that he can't go play. If DH comes on his day off we could try it though. Then daddy can lug him around if he desperately wants out to see animals etc.

  • @PharmDMom Finding Dory was so good! There were lots of younger kids in our theater and I didn't hear a peep from any of them, except of course at the funny parts. He would probably really enjoy it :)
  • Oh, no! I'm hoping for a speedy recovery, @PharmDMom! My BF is that my kitchen is sucking the life out of me. I have been unpacking that bad boy for what seems like ages. There is so much crap tucked away in the kitchen. It is basically the catch-all for the entire house.
  • @PharmDMom.  Sorry :-(.  My DS and I have had a stomach bug or food poisining.  He has no idea when vomiting or diarrhea is going to hit so suffice to say it's  been a disaster for a few days now.  I feel so sad for him and a little bit for myself.  I also feel bad for my H since his Father's Day was dealing with all this.

  • Ugh @DiFazette food poisoning/stomach bug is the worst. And for your kid to have it at the same time is even worse. I totally feel for you. Hope it's over soon.

  • DH said he would wash my work clothes and get them hung up yesterday. I trusted him as I was super busy. He hung up the hang dry only shirts, started the dryer with everything else, and forgot it. I didn't notice until I went to get my comfy maternity dress pants from the closet which they weren't in. I'm wearing wrinkled dress pants today. And will be rewashing the rest tonight. Ugh. Total first world problem.

@sourlemon the exact reason my DH is not allowed to do laundry. The last time he put clothes in the dryer he put my hang dry only stuff in there. How hard is it to read the tag if you're not sure!?!?

@DiFazette feel better soon! DH and I had something last week that nearly put us both in the hospital, so I feel ya.

  • Usually I do it. But I was making him a nice huge blanket for Father's day. He's 6'6" and always complains blankets are too short so I make him like a 9 foot one lol. Guess it's back to laundry for me. He can be in charge of towels lol.

  • @PharmDMom poor, sweet little guy! :( I think my suggestions for activities have been mentioned - movies, and age-appropriate online activities. Doesn't ABCmouse.com have some stuff for littles? I normally try to limit my son's screen time, but I think if there was ever an excuse for screen time, this would be it.

I hope his pain is minimal and that you're able to keep him content for these long weeks.

I don't have a particular bitch today. Mondays suck.  Today is no exception. I feel for all of you who are having a rough day. I hope tomorrow is 1000000x better.

  • I thought I had something "b!tch worthy" until I saw @PharmDMom post. It's pretty insignificant. Sorry mommy! That's hard stuff. Thoughts and prayers as you love and care for your little man!

Just woke up on Monday with a yeast infection... My 3rd ever! Suck! But, yeah, who cares!
