  • @allishally13 I'm glad your symptoms didn't have to do with your heart! I hope mine is just the baby too, and I'm thinking it is. Still haven't decided if I should I go to the cardiologist for peace of mind or save myself the trip since I saw one pre pregnancy.
  • @ashleybaker712 both my kids seem to grow at fast rates in the third tri (confirmed by growth us and birth weights).

Can I post a FFC - I don't understand why when people are told there may be a risk because of an excessively large everyone immediately becomes an MD and dismisses it at inaccurate. However when a baby has IUGR or is small everyone is totally fine with inducing based on a small change in percentage of size. If an ultrasound is accurate to diagnose small size it has to be accurate to diagnose large size too.

  • Yea FH can be just more fluid, baby position etc.

  • @JournoGrl23 I definitely didn't think it was my heart, but I do have a family history of heart issues (mitro-valve prolapse aka leaky valve in the heart, and DVT- deep vein thrombosis which is basically blood clots), so I of course took my doctor's advice and went. It was a quick appointment, they did an ekg, listened to my heart and I told them how it felt when it happens. The cardiologist reassured me to not worry and that once the baby drops, I'll feel much better. If you have good insurance especially, I see no harm in going. But also just to be safe, because you'll feel better once you know for sure :)

  • @Knottie1442786653 I do get a constricting feeling, almost like my lungs can't expand the whole way. I also feel a pressure in my chest, not quite the elephant sitting on your chest, as my OB described for heart problems, but just a general pressure that makes it hard to breath. And then there's the chest pain, but I've also had chest pain my whole life, so I feel like I would never actually know if it was my heart or not. I'll have to see if my chiropractor knows how to adjust ribs. He's already fixed so many of my problems and has helped with a ton of my pregnancy pains that it doesn't hurt to ask!

@allishally13 I would just have to pay a copay to see the cardiologist, so maybe you're right and I should go in just to be safe and for that peace of mind so I stop worrying about it. I also have a family history of heart issues. Granted, it's mostly things that happen later in life like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart attacks. My mom did have a hole in her heart, though, but the doctors believe she was born with that, and she didn't show symptoms of it until her 50s. I'm not having the same symptoms as her at all. And even though the cardiologist gave me an all clear before pregnancy after diagnosing me with PVCs, I'd probably feel a lot better getting the all clear now that I'm pregnant and my blood volume has increased.
  • @ashleybaker712 I was measuring 4 weeks ahead around this time when I was pregnant with DD.  My OB totally went overboard and ordered a gazillion ultrasounds and an extra GD test and everything was completely fine.  She was just a slightly large baby (8lbs, 13 oz), but I had a normal vaginal delivery with no complications.

@liljabee I'm sorry about the comments from your dad.  That was completely inappropriate of him!

  • Thanks ladies! I measured ahead the entire time with DS. He was 8lbs 10oz. I'm assuming she'll be a decent sized, too. I just thought it was strange to have a spike like that.

@lgem4 I had to laugh out loud when I read your comment. DH is only 5'8" and we constantly make fun of his height. If she's anything like her brother, she'll be totally like her dad and we won't have to worry about her ever being too tall.  ;)
