New Jersey Babies

Car seats question!

hi! So my 7monther is grown out of her NB car seat. She is very tall and big for her age, 20 lbs.

Can anyone suggest 2nd step car seats? I'm having trouble finding a rear facing seat for her weight. They all say 22 pounds is front facing and she is obviously no where near the appropriate age for that.

Re: Car seats question!

  • there are convertible car seats that begin at infant and are rear facing and switch to front at the appropriate age and size. many many. try babies r us.
  • As PP said, there are scores of convertible car seats out there that begin as rear facing for newborns and infants, and switch to forward facing and even booster seats. Try Babies"R"Us, buybuy BABY, or even Target or Walmart. All the major brands, including Graco, Chicco, and Britax, sell them.

  • Just because you *can* forward face at 22 lbs, doesn't mean you have to.

Children can't face forward at 22lbs in NJ by law. As of September 1, 2015 the child passenger law states that all children under 2 years of age and 30lbs must be rear-facing with a five point harness.
