Sib for Frederick?

Sibling is theoretical, so I'll take boy or girl names.
Frederick currently goes by both his full name and nn Freddie.
Preferences: classic/old-fashioned, names that don't end in a vowel, nothing that begins or ends in "L", nothing from the top 50, standard spelling and pronunciation

  • Bernard
    Roland
    Clarence
    Hector
    Ignatius
    Walter
    Edgar

Girl names not ending in a vowel is a bit trickier

    Agnes
    Constance
    Edith
    Harriet
    Maureen
    Millicent
    Rosalind
    Sybil

  • Miriam, Eliza, Hannah, Genevieve, Victoria, Doriana, Wendy, Sarah, Chloe, Jillian, Daisy, Beatrice, Violet, Ramona, Caroline, Alice, Jacqueline.

Theodore, Franklin, Nicholas, Charles, Wesley, Elliot, Alexander, Peter, Patrick, Vincent, Martin, Calvin, Jasper, Tobias, Wilbur, Simon, Leland, Sylvester.
  • Thanks!  I had Walter and Edgar, Beatrice, Violet, Alice, Nicholas, Charles and Elliot on my list already.  Roland and Agnes are growing on me.  I like Oscar.  I love Wesley, but Wes rhymes with the first syllable of my last name (think Les Nessman), so that might be a deal-breaker.
Wendy and Ramona might make me lift the ending-in-a-vowel rule.

  • Frances is a family name, so I like the idea... but I'm worried about Frannie and Freddie or Frankie and Freddie.  Adorable or silly?
  • You could always call her Annie for short! I don't think Frannie/Freddie or Frankie/Freddie would be silly. I really like it!

I would avoid it. My sons are Theodore and Francis, as much as I love Frederick, I wouldn't want Teddy & Freddy or Frankie & Freddy.

  • Thanks ladies!
Sib is now slightly less theoretical (BFP on the HPT last week!), so I'll definitely be coming back to this.
