Traveling with your 1 year old

This Friday we will be stuck in the truck for 30 hours while we drove to NY to visit family.

So please give me your tricks and magical ideas to keep my One year old happy on the trip!!

  • That's a long car ride, I would recommend frequent stops and have food on hand ready to go.

  • Of needed sit by them
  • 30 hours! Wow! We're doing 6 hours to the beach on Saturday with our twins and I'm dreading that. Luckily I'm tiny enough I can sit in the middle in the back with them if need be, but my one girl is just over car rides so it's going to be interesting.

Yep, I usually end up sitting in the back seat to pick up toys as LO throws them down, hand him snacks and cups and sing and clap and play peek-a-boo.

He settles her in her home as a happy mother of children, praise the Lord! (Psalms 113:9)
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understand, will guard your heart and mind in Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:7)

  • One of us will usually ride with but we got lucky and found a puppy toy that she loves. She snuggles right up to it and falls asleep looking out the window unless she's hungry or something.

We had the same problem. The girls always drop their toys and cups. We bought these things to help. They are adjustable so they fit cups, toys or bottles. Maybe just an idea. They're like $5 at Walmart. You can Google them and get them other places too!

  • I have a pretty solid invention idea. My girls LOVE to throw their toys between their seat and the door. Solution? A mesh net that connects to the side of their car seats with suction cups on the window to create a net. BOOM. No more lost toys. Why hasn't anyone invented this yet?
  • 30 hours sounds awful! Sorry, no advice. Good luck. I'd pay whatever to fly that distance or tell them I'm not visiting! Ha
