1st Trimester

Ok this might be crazy, but I got an answer to my faint line possible BFPs

I've been testing like a madwoman for 3 days. I got the faintest shadow of a line yesterday morning with FMU. I tested with second- same thing. So I started freaking out. I couldn't help but to buy some FRERs & a cheap, 88 cent one at the store. Both had faint/shadowy lines, so I reserved a digital FR for this morning.

FMU this morning I get a "NO" on the digital. BFN! I rechecked with one of the wondfos that I had, & another 88 cent cheapie. Both have shadows!

So now I'm really confused..... but I figured maybe its just too early because AF is due Friday. Or maybe a chemical pregnancy..... I just didn't want to discredit a line, despite how faint. So I opened the digital & took it out of the casing. There's a line! BFP! Its not as dark as the control line, but definitely a line. Darker than any others.

BFP! And when in doubt, break that bad boy open. I'm so excited  <3

Wow, ok. I googled (for some reason I didn't even think to do that- I thought it was pretty simple to just open it up & interpret), but apparently the whole internet knew that they all have 2 lines regardless.

Crap. Thanks. I'll test again tomorrow.

  • Digitals always have two lines. If you open it, its invalid. The biggest question here is-- did you look at the test within the alotted time frame? Even if its RIGHT after the time limits has expired you can get indent or evaporation lines. They can even have color. That's why it is VITAL to throw the test out the minute the time has elapsed. Set a timer and be very vigilant.

  • Meaning, the line tests (pink dye, not the digital)-- and time frame. Sorry, I could see how that ^^ can be confusing. OP, do you have any idea where you are in your cycle?

I've had evaps before even with pink dye tests - did a line come up right away or after 5-10 minutes? If s (the latter) it doesn't count.

Also, with my BFP I couldn't turn a digital test until 3 days after a regular test. They're just not as sensitive.

  • Ditto what the PP said. Digital aren't as sensitive. So those faint lines could be BFPs if they show up within the time frame. I usually don't even bother with digitals because I never know how long until they start turning positive.

Update: Positive on a digital last night, & confirmed at my dr this morning

@PrimRoseMama Thanks for the input. I definitely looked at the other tests within the time frame. The digi was quite a while past the recommended time. I was 10-12dpo (I go off ovulation pain, nothing "official"), so I figured I was just going crazy thinking it should be so dark. I tested yesterday with a clearblue digi & got a pregnant. I confirmed at my dr's office today as well.

@juliehollz13 The other tests were within the time frame, but my timeline ended up being pretty much the same- took 3 days of faint lines to get a digital positive. I never took digitals with any other pregnancy, but I like the confirmation. Lol. Anyway, congrats to you!

@krzyriver I hear ya. I was over the moon to read "pregnant," but I'm not sure it was worth the stress. & uncertainty.... especially since I really trusted that the other non-digital, faint lines were legitimate.

  • Girl, this EXACT thing just happened to me. Even my doctor said I wasn't pregnant! Turns out... I am. It was just early. :)

    Congratulations!!!
