4. Question of the week: Have you gotten any great twin tips or advice? Or any absolutely ridiculous comments?
Re: Moms of Multiples 6/13
23+6, boy twins
2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?
First viability milestone tomorrow, and especially excited for my next appointment (with u/s) on Thursday!
3. Rants/Raves/Positives?
I really didn't anticipate how much shifting around and continual rearranging twins do in the womb. The past few days they have been sitting in a super comfortable arrangement where I actually feel great like I did with my singleton, and even forget that I'm pregnant every now and again. So thankful for some relief!
4. Question of the week: Have you gotten any great twin tips or advice? Or any absolutely ridiculous comments?
Best advice: Take advantage of delivery or pick-up services when you can, like groceries, diapers, etc. Not lazy, resourceful.
Worst advice: A relative of mine has told me 3-4 times now that I "need" to buy a specific stroller (which would cost over $1500) and that I "need" a minivan with automatic doors. Sorry, but I am not made of money here!
1. How far along, and what are you expecting?
23w1d; boy/girl twins
2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?
My follow up appointment on my shortened cervix is this afternoon. It was 2.7 last week with funneling down to 1.7. They'll remeasure today and we'll go from there. They wanted to see it at least 3 with no funneling as of 22 weeks as a reference. The perinatal group and my OB didn't seem as concerned as I am obviously. I'll let you all know our course of action once I know more. They mentioned getting steroid injections to help the babies lungs.
I've got more questions for them today. Anything you guys would ask in this situation? I'm asking about the FFN test, progesterone (suppositories/injections), cerclage, bed rest, other restrictions, reduced working hours.
I've told my 3 yr old son I can't pick him up, but I still spot him when he's climbing into his high chair, car seat, bathroom stool, etc. I've also tried to be more aware of drinking more water and resting more. I feel so guilty asking my husband to help out more than he already does, but he's been great so far.
Other than that, I'll feel better once Sunday hits and I'll be 24 weeks. My next goal is 28, then 32.
3. Rants/Raves/Positives?
I work in accounting, and it's our fiscal year end. I've got some major deadlines this week, and the new hire isn't much help yet, so it's 85% on me. My boss is on vacation, and a coworker is too, so I've also been covering a bit for them.
4. Question of the week: Have you gotten any great twin tips or advice? Or any absolutely ridiculous comments?
Not really any great advice. The ridiculous comments keep coming in, especially from people that haven't ever had ANY children. I can't think of anything other than my SIL recommending a "really cool" double stroller one of her patients had. No features mentioned, she didn't even know if it was a frame, tandem, or side by side.
I know it is really hard to feel like you can't take care of your toddler as well as you want to, but try to remember that the times when your husband is helping with him, you are taking the best care of these two new babies that you possibly can. Dads are parents, too, not "helpers" or "babysitters"; it's okay for them to handle things while we are doing our best to grow these twins healthy and strong.
23+3, twin BOYS (after two weeks of the unknown).
2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?
V-Day on Friday!
3. Rants/Raves/Positives?
Rant: I'm so uncomfortable already.
Rave: nursery should be done by my birthday! Happy birthday to me!
4. Question of the week: Have you gotten any great twin tips or advice? Or any absolutely ridiculous comments?
Nothing. A few people have said that I don't look like I'm carrying twins. I scoff, but I'm secretly happy inside.
Me: 28 DH: 27
21-6 with twin girlies. Possibly mo/di
2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?
Next appointment is a week and half away...but Dr doesn't know it's twins yet...we just found out this morning at our A/S so maybe he will bump it up?
3. Rants/Raves/Positives?
I feel so good! Seriously, there's two in there?
4. Question of the week: Have you gotten any great twin tips or advice? Or any absolutely ridiculous comments?
Nope. I'm looking to hear all y'alls advice! This is a major shock
21w4d with boy/girl twins
2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?
I have a follow up scan on the 22nd. Not knowing if she's growing is killing me!
3. Rants/Raves/Positives?
This last week has been miserable. I feel like my belly popped again... i feel absolutely massive and my MIL keeps telling me "you're so ROUND today!" Code word for gigantic? But it makes me hope that Daisy hit her growth spurt and is catching up quickly. I'll be the most uncomfortable woman on earth if it means she makes it!
4. Question of the week: Have you gotten any great twin tips or advice? Or any absolutely ridiculous comments?
Not really... DH's cousin has b/g twins that are 2 so we want to meet up with her and get some good insight with what to expect from delivery and whatnot. I know her girl was small in utero, but i don't know how small.
Ridiculous comments abound, but mostly are about pregnancy in general not so much about twins. I get a lot of "I would freak out. I don't think I could do it." Makes me feel powerful but defensive. Oh also a lot of "Did you have twins on purpose?" Which just feels like there's no right answer
@lmno304 thinking about you and your sweet girl! I'm sure your next appt can't be soon enough
@cate2273 Welcome to the multiple club! I'm also a FTM. It's definitely overwhelming to think about two littles but also so incredibly amazing
1. How far along, and what are you expecting? 24 w 3d, boy/girl
2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?
I have my 24 week ultrasound with the MFM tomorrow and 24 week OB appt on Wednesday. Just hoping both are growing as they should!
3. Rants/Raves/Positives?
Raves: I think I can tell who is kicking and I feel both of them which is amazing. Also DH finally was able to feel them which was amazing!!
Rants- my boy has decided to get extra comfy in my ribs which is less than awesome but I'm glad I can feel him. He's been hitting a nerve or something which causes tingling so I'm going to check with the Drs this week.
4. Question of the week: Have you gotten any great twin tips or advice? Or any absolutely ridiculous comments?
Great advice: mini fridge/bottle warmers in the nursery so others can help with late night feedings and to save lots of trips to the kitchen. I hope to breastfeed and pump.
Rediculous... Lots of comments that I'm not big enough to be having twjns. I'm gaining weight and babies are growing so I know not to worry but annoying.
Good luck and hope everything goes smoothly!
Thanks @kmvisioli, @girvin21, & @Schell2013!
I had a GREAT appointment yesterday. My cervix had lengthened back up to 3, still with funneling down to 2, but the MFM Dr said he was pleased. I go back in 2 weeks for another check. They did not administer steroids. I'm going to continue my self prescribed restrictions of not lifting my son, resting more, and drinking more water. I'm also working a few hours less each week as long as my boss is good with it.
@nlane0723 I know you are so glad to have it finally confirmed one way or the other if it's boy/boy or boy/girl.
Welcome to the club @cate2273! I've found this group to be very supportive and welcoming.
@lmno304 Keep us updated on your little girl. I hope she's growing well.
I finally got the hubby to go with me to Buy Buy Baby yesterday. We are so overwhelmed with strollers & carseats. It would be easier if we were starting from scratch, but we have a Graco infant seat with multiple bases, a Recaro convertible a First Years convertible, and my mom has a Britax Frontier Harness to Booster. We also only have one car that will hold 3 car seats, a Honda Pilot with a bench seat in the second row. It does have the third row, but anytime anyone sits back there, they feel isolated. The second row seat goes up so high, I even have a hard time seeing over it. I have a horror of thinking I'll forget one of them is back there in the third row.
I'm thinking we'll use the Graco Classic connect (not Click Connect) infant seat we have, buy a second Graco Click Connect, and keep the Recaro for my 3 yr old son in a 3 across setup in the Pilot. I want to see if the Joovy Twinroo frame stroller works with both a Classic Connect and a Click Connect. The rep at BBB said she thought it would work based on how the Graco adapters for the Twinroo are designed. Wish us luck!
1. How far along, and what are you expecting?
22w1 - MoDi Girls
2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?
weekly ultrasounds still looking good, no progression on TTTS and the girls are each 1LB!
3. Rants/Raves/Positives?
Rants - tired of people telling me I am huge & new vehicle shopping is terrible
Raves/Positives - I think it's finally sinking in that we are going to have 2 daughters, identical ones at that. The anxiety of having 3 under 2 1/2 has finally started wearing off and the excitement is building up. My 2 year old is noticing my belly and will randomly come up and lift my shirt and kiss his sisters. It's too cute
4. Question of the week: Have you gotten any great twin tips or advice? Or any absolutely ridiculous comments?
Looking for advice on vehicles - need 3rd row or van, have a 2 year old too who is still rear facing, so 3 across doesn't seem like an option at this point. What do you ladies drive/recommend?
@kmvisioli Thanks so much!
I've checked out Lucie's List, and that's how I fell in love with the Joovy Twinroo. My son does not use his stroller now, but I'm thinking one of those Skip Hop walk along cords that attaches to the stroller or his Skip Hop monkey safety backpack with the safety leash might be helpful if I'm ever out with all 3 at once. I don't use the backpack much now for the leash, but I do carry him a change of clothes, wipes, snacks in it as a downsize from his diaper bag, but I can see where it might be handy for safety when there are 3 kids involved.
I'd forgotten about carcrashdetective.com. I'll have to check it out and see what works for our car.
@cnb4hfI drive a Honda Pilot with a bench seat on the 2nd row and it has a 3rd row too. I know the newer ones have an option of buckets for the second so you could pass through to the 3rd. If I had to do it over again I'd go ahead and get a mini van. We're hoping to make do with what we've got and hoping for a 3 across our 2nd row setup with 2 infant seats and a convertible. We might upgrade our son to a FF harness to booster if that's a better fit for us. I'm going to need at least one more high backed harness when the twins reach that age anyway.
I'm curious too now...how many of you will have 3 (or more) in carseats?
We will be upgrading DH's truck next year. He wants a minivan, but I refuse to drive/own one so we likely get another truck, suburban, or the new Tesla (the cheap one, I don't have a money tree in my yard).
Me: 28 DH: 27
This week I've been noticing a lot more nasal congestion, like a coating of dried boogies that make it hard to breathe, so I've been breathing through my mouth, and i am drooling all over the damn place.
