Re: April/May IF success group

  • @ultratomato@Joyzie77 - so jealous that you are going to be off PIO. I asked my RE last week why they keep us on it so long (almost the entire 1st trimester!) and she said they are overly cautious and too much won't hurt. I have exactly 1 week from today but I am seriously fighting myself every day to make myself take it! lol

  • Hi everyone -  I've been lurking for a while and know many of you from the april/may IVF/FET boards.  Hope everyone is still doing well!

I was also hanging around the first trimester boards but felt that the ladies who haven't gone through infertility don't really have the same fear/perspective as those of use who have gone through fertility treatment.

AFM - all is good so far. Had a ultrasound at 6w2d and measured at 6w3d with heartbeat at 115.  I go back at 8w2 days for another check and basically every twinge, cramp, or fleeing of nausea makes me think I'm miscarrying -- look like others are having the same fears!  I came home from work yesterday at 6:30pm and went to bed at 7pm (only to briefly wake up to eat cereal, which is all I can about stomach these days). I'm so tired -- do others feel like they ran a marathon just by going to work for the day?

Hope you all are well doing well!

You guys, I have an overwhelming desire for pizza right now. Covered in garlic and peperonie and peppers and all that goodness. I have not wanted anything with THAT much flavor in a long time.

I went to acupuncture today. It was really relaxing. I told her I was starting to get some lower back pain and esp across my shoulders. She ended up giving me a mini back massage at the end of my appointment. It was amazing, she hit a bunch of pressure points and relaxed so many muscles. I didn't want her to stop.

  • @vssbrm That sounds sooo good. The pizza and the massage! :) My lower back was hurting last night too, but right now I can't tell what is being tired, what is PIO pain, and what is pregnancy. I'll probably schedule a massage once I'm off the PIO.

  • @vssbrm that does sound delicious. And the massage sounds even better. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've had a really strong craving for cereal the past few days. I don't even eat cereal normally, like once in a blue moon. But I had no milk and was lazy to go to the store so I brushed it off. Today I'm working from home and I couldn't control myself. Went to the store during lunch, got milk and had the most delicious bowl of honey bunches of oats of my life!

  • @dragonfaerie ha! I don't even know where this cereal craving came from. Maybe it's because a few of you were talking about eating cereal. I've been ok with regular foods, not just bland ones, but the other day I was making lunch for hubby and couldn't stand the smell of bbq chicken that I had the day before. So weird!

  • @Tulips29 I haven't had too many smell aversions, but I'm definitely a picky eater right now. I'm looking forward to getting a normal appetite back. The past two days after I eat, I feel like I haven't eaten at all. It's so hard to make healthy choices when you are just hungry all the time!

AFM - TMI a bit: basically since Saturday I have been getting weird really low cramps, and I'll have kind of painful BMs. I think the food I ate at our festival on Saturday didn't agree with me, and I'm still paying for it.

I was discharged  to my ob! I have an appointment on 6/27. I will likely go back for another transfer next summer or whenever the ob says it's safe. (I'm having a c-section and I'm 42 now,  so I can't wait too long. )

The first 2-3 weeks I knew I was pregnant, I had a lot of cramps. My stomach was off and still sometimes is, but this week I've been surprisingly good most of the time. I don't forget that I'm pregnant,  but I actually worry because I don't feel many symptoms at times. Other times I still get cramps and feel indigestion.

I was so relieved when I saw the baby on the ultrasound and heard the heartbeat again.

After reading the posts above, now I'm craving cereal too! :)
  • @LynnNJ I'm glad to hear you say you had a ton of cramps. The last few days have been rough for me because I've been so twingy.

@dragonfaerie I feel tiny cramp-like twinges here and there also. Sometimes I also think it might be the food I ate, other times I think maybe this is supposed to be happening. I don't know, but you're not alone. Up until this week I had the feeling of constant hunger. I'd eat and be hungry still like I ate nothing. This week I'm the opposite. I'll eat a little bit and feel full, but then I'll feel hungry a few hours later. So I switched to smaller but more frequent meals with snacks like fruit or nuts in between.

  • Cravings I'm not having as much as when I order a new meal and regret it after because of the smell. I almost got sick the other night at our favorite place cause I tried something new. And I have an ice pop almost everyday helps me not feel nauseous but sometimes I just have to have it. I love the unhealthy cereal so I stay away from it. I can't wait for OB appointment Friday. I miss seeing them everyday
  • @MelD17011  I'm so very sorry to hear about your ectopic.  I had the exact same thing happen to me with my first IVF (landed in ER after barreling over in pain) - it was scary but you'll get through it.  feel free to PM for more.

Everyone else, so glad I'm not the only one that is this tired.  Question: I'm at 7w0d today and my nurse gave me the option to switch from PIO shots to suppositories, but I actually want to stay on the shots because I found the suppositories so messy last time.  But starting to get some PIO knots now too, so not sure which is better.  What is everyone else doing?

@vssbrm- yay for craving normal foods!  Also, your acupuncture appointment sounds awesome and reminds me I need to set one up too.

  • OMG you guys, the cereal thing is so funny. It's all that ever sounds appetizing to me too! Going to eat a bowl now.

@dragonfaerie - don't worry too much about the cramps (easier said then done, I know) - they say its normal, as long as its not accompanied by heavy bleeding.  It's probably just the uterus expanding.

Question for you all - what are you all doing about caffeine? Completely avoiding it?  I'm doing mostly decaf but will have a few sips of regular coffee each day (also because I'm SO TIRED all the time)  But I'm also worried that even a little bit of caffeine is harmful.  Then again they have studies that say less than 200mg is fine (I'm probably consuming 30 mg a day).  What are you all doing?

  • I have been eating cereal almost every day. I'm loving honey nut chex.

@Knottie1432834683 - I stopped drinking coffee in November and haven't had pretty much any caffeine since February. I will have a green tea every few days but that's about it. The hardest part for me is getting in a gallon of water a day which is what my OB told me I should be drinking.

  • -What road did you take to get your BFP? IUI - didn't work until my 6th round!!!!!

-When is your due date? 2/17/16 (4w6d)

-Anything else you want to share? I have so much anxiety. I have no history of chemical pregnancies or miscarriages but I can't help but think every little pain means something is wrong. Of course I'm completely insane and think that something is wrong if I DON'T feel anything, also. I can barely make it through beta days. Currently waiting on the call from my nurse that usually comes around 1pm ET. FX for doubling numbers!

It makes me so happy to see so many people from the IF boards that have had success! H&H 9 months to all of us!!!

  • Knottie1432834683 Thank you! I haven't had even a bit of spotting, so I'm sure it's okay. Just hard not to worry. As for PIO, I opted to stay on the shots. I hated the suppositories SO MUCH that I'd rather just deal with the knots. I think I had one, maybe two cups of coffee while prepping for FET, and now I've completely lost my palate for coffee. I haven't been wanting tea either, which is really sad for me. Lol. I think that your little bit of caffeine (decaf still has some) is okay.

  • @knottie1432834683 I'm drinking one cup per day. I really didn't want to drink any at all, and I even stopped while doing the IUI's. But now I am so constipated I am using everything possible to try to make me "go". My doctor says 1-2 cups a day is ok.

  • @Drove2u Caffeine never really helped me wake up, coffee has always just been a comfort thing for me. And it does help me go to the bathroom! Lol. So it makes me really sad that I don't like the taste anymore.

  • @dragonfaerie, Thanks! our Beta's have never been very high so it wasn't even on my radar! Of course at work there was a baby shower for one of my coworkers and at those things everyone starts pointing fingers at who will be next and giving their pregnancy stories and whatnot and since no one at work knows we did our transfer and i was feeling so emotional i had to just quietly leave the shower i couldnt handle anymore of the questions or speculations!
