I've enjoyed the lists of what to register for. But what about other "stuff". Baby body wash? Baby lotion? diaper cream/ ointment? I feel like I'm missing a ton of "consumables" we'll call them for lack of a better term. Help! only 1 week away!!
I registered for those and received some at my showers. I would pick up a few at the store just to have when you return home so you won't have to run out and get them.
Don't forget infant Tylenol. It's nice to have on hand before you need it. That way you're not running to the store in the middle of the night. Oh and gas drops too.
Infant Tylenol, gas drops, beaudreauxs butt paste is one of my favorite in the diaper cream department, aquaphor too - it's great for any really dry spots in the skin (my son has ezcema and this always helps his problem spots), saline....
We always kept gripe water, Angel Baby bottom balm (cloth diaper safe), some very mild baby wash for the first few weeks, coconut oil for dry patches or irritation and disposable nursing pads if you plan to breastfeed and something for your nipples. We also found that the extra gentle baby wipes were good for when they're tiny, the others irritated his skin.
If you plan to breastfeed, lanolin is a must. When I engorged a coke of days ago, it made getting a good latch really hard and she really hurt my nipples. It's also great to put on before a shower to protect them.
I'd also highly suggest getting supplies to take care of yourself. I got an extra set of peri bottles to have in more than one bathroom (found on amazon). Get the blue dermaplast, big overnight pads, tucks, cheap baby wipes for yourself in case you get hemmroids, and if your bleeding is really bad, always makes an adult diaper that has been great. I made padsicles and they fit right in the always diaper and I don't have to worry about ruining the couch or bed. And get buy colace and some natural laxatives like ground flaxseed and prunes. Nothing is worse than constipation and hemmroids.
If you plan to breastfeed, get a caddy and stock it with nursing pads, snacks, a water bottle, burp cloths, lanolin, and an extra recieving blanket.
Make sure to ask your pediatrician before using any lotion or Tylenol. We were told not to give the baby Tylenol until he is at least 1-3 months old. (He did get Tylenol after his circumcision, but that was the exception). Also were told not to use any lotions (including sunscreen) for 6 months.
