Baby eczema? *updated with diagnosis*

Woke up this morning & my 12 day old son has this awful rash all over his poor little face. I'm taking him to the pediatrician tomorrow when they open, but just wanted to come here to see if anyone knows what it could be? His cord stump is still attached, so he hasn't been bathed, I haven't changed detergents (I'm using Dreft on everyone's clothes), & I haven't been eating dairy products so I highly doubt it's a milk allergy. I've been moisturizing the rash with Aveeno baby lotion w/ natural colloidal oatmeal. Opinions?

  • Baby acne?  If so, totally normal.
  • Baby acne

    Baby eczema

I guess my son has both, lol! Or maybe it's both the same thing?
  • @adiaz132003 Do you know the what the brand of oil is called? Or do you just use plain coconut oil?

I use organic coconut oil. Not picky about brand as long as it doesnt have any other ingredients.
  • What did the doctor say???
  • Doctor said he has a mild case of eczema, which usually clears up on its own within a few months, but sometimes it can stay for good. He said to continue using the Aveeno with colloidal in it, & to bring him back if it started to look worse or started to aggitate him.
  • Do you use dryer sheets or fabric softener that are scented? Both my boys have eczema and I can't use anything with a scent in it. They have few outbreaks in the summer and fall but the dry Colorado winters make it flare up. I hope it clears up and good luck!
  • @rlbrooks84 No I don't use any type of fabric softener or fabric sheets, I started washing everyone's clothes in Dreft since the day he came home. His flare up is actually clearing up nicely, call me crazy but I've been expressing a little breast milk & rubbing it onto his face lol it seems to be helping!

Not crazy at all. I forgot about that!  Haha fun fact too, what I learned from my lactation lady was to take breastmilk and put it on cuts and scrapes.
