Costume themed baby shower

Any ladies due early November such as myself thinking about a costume party baby shower? I love dressing up & finding great deals on costumes, decprations, candy, food & snacks for Halloween! It won't be hard to find anything because so much is put out for Halloween!

Re: Costume themed baby shower

  • I think this could be really fun if it was a coed shower but I can't picture all the ladies in my family and H's family dressing up for a shower if it was just us girls.

What does the host who's throwing the party think about the costume theme?

  • I would absolutely love something like that! Halloween is my favorite. I had never even considered a themed shower, at least not one quite like that. I second @MrsMaryK2016, what does the host think of this idea? Or have you not brought it up with them yet?

Totally off topic, but being due in mid-November, I'm looking forward to cheap post-Halloween candy.

  • I'm sure plenty of guests would enjoy it, but elderly guests (or boring ones like me that don't go out for Halloween) may not have a costume and it'll be more of a hassle. So I'd say it depends on your crowd.

This. It might work for your group but overall I think it probably falls under the category of "trying too hard". And it's mostly up to your host. I love Halloween too but it's hard to make time for these kinds of things so if I felt like I also had to dress a certain way, I might be more likely to decline and send a gift. It seems a little out of place at a baby shower tbh- especially if people mostly have slutty mermaid or similar costumes on hand.

Baby showers already have a theme- babies. Possibly blue or pink. Maybe jungle animals or something.

healing comes in waves, and maybe today the wave hits the rocks and that’s ok, that’s ok, darling. you are still healing, you are still healing- Ijeoma Umebinyuo, be gentle with yourself

  • This wouldn't be my thing and I probably wouldn't go if I was invited to one.  However, you're the guest of honor and if your host supports it and you think your guests would participate than I think you should go for it!
  • I love the idea of a Halloween themed baby shower! Halloween is like my Christmas... But personally I think dressing up is taking it to far for a baby shower.

For me if your Shower is going to be Halloween weekend go for it. If it's going to be September or early October I would do something else.

I know this isn't what you're asking but I feel like I'd want to have my shower a little earlier than Halloween, probably in September or at least early October. It would just be nice to have all the gifts organized a little earlier. That way you still have time to get what you still need after.
  • I know I'm echoing a few posts here, but I would also choose not to attend a costume required baby shower. If the crowd doesn't include the lackluster dress-up ladies like myself, then go all in. After all, it is your shower.
