OMG What is in your mouth!!

Now that our little ones are mobile and busy exploring the world with their many senses, they have probably had at least one instance of putting something in their mouth that was NEVER intended for consumption.  What weird, gross, unusual, or funny objects has your baby put in their mouth?

I pulled a used bandaid out of Bridget's mouth last night.  I was pretty horrified.  She has also licked the back of her sister's scooter, a mirror, and the refrigerator.  I think she believes shiny = yummy.  My favorite is when she grabbed the cat by the scruff of the neck, pulled her towards herself, and proceeded to chew on her ear.  It didn't last long, but the look on everyone's face was pretty priceless.  (The cats have silicone nail covers over their claws and are very docile.)
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

Re: OMG What is in your mouth!!

  • My LO is not crawling yet, but rolls, pivots and scoots just about everywhere. We were at a friends house who has a toddler and my girl made her way over to a nice big ball of blue play-doh and stuffed it in her mouth.

  • Zeke was working his way through our juicer's instruction manual- he'd rip some then shove it in his mouth then I'd take the small pieces so he'd rip more. But he loved crinkling it when he wasn't eating it. He's licked a gym floor. He tries to eat crumbs off the floor so now I actually have to sweep lol.

Grossest thing though has been wads of my hair (since it's still falling out in chunks and I can't vacuum fast enough)
  • A bone! A dog bone! She loves them, and I swear she spends her day looking for them! A cow ear to be exact! I keep them on the beds or couches. But now I might have to remove them from the house!!! Somehow they make it to the floor of course! Totally grossed me out!
  • He also eats my husband's pay checks (we take pics of them to deposit in our account via the mobile app). I find it funny since he'll do that figuratively in the not too distant future.

I found my hair in my girls poo, so gross. She tries to eat the dog, pretty much everything in her hand. I gave her a
minimilk pack to play with a breakfast the other day, took my eye off her for a second and it was half way in her mouth(
    Mom fail).
  • Isabel loves to try to eat grass and plants. I'll put her on a blanket at the park and it takes her about 5 seconds to crawl to the side and start ripping grass from the ground and stuffing it into her mouth.
  • LO is not mobile yet but everything within reach, goes in her mouth. I don't make it a habit of keeping really gross things near her so nothing too weird has been in her mouth yet. Oh boy I can't wait until she starts crawling.

Benjamin made his way over to the plant the other day and stuffed a good fistful of leaves in his mouth. Thankfully I got them all out quickly, but yikes...
  • Jane pulled a bandaid off herself and put it in her mouth today, as well. I didn't know it was there until she suddenly started gagging and vomited. It scared me to death! I never saw any chewing motions, so I didn't suspect there was anything in there.

Grass is a fave. So are crayons, paint, paper.
  • I tell my DD daily books are for reading, not eating. She also so badly wants to eat my engagement ring. Sorry darling, not happening.
  • Everything goes in Wyatt's mouth. You had better believe that his toys aren't worth wiggling/ crawling for, but lay him down anywhere, look away for a moment and he has a dog toy in his mouth! I'm seriously considering locking up all of the dog toys!
  • Chewed up dog rawhide. Num num.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I came back into the room today to discover Oren playing with (and trying to eat) a giant dust bunny. At least, I think that's what it was. It didn't look like cat hair... Regardless, my sweeping skills have to improve asap.
