1st Trimester

broke down and bought gap maternity pants and LOVE them!

Okay...I just could not take my jeans digging into my belly when I sat...so..I went to Gap Maternity and bought some secret panel pants and I LOVE THEM!  I highly suggest it if you are getting a little thick but not big enough for the huge full panel pants.  They are so comfy and look like normal jeans!  I highly recommend it if any of you are on the fence about it.

  • :::pondering if 5 weeks pg is too soon to buy maternity jeans:::

    Confused

    Dear Bump: You suck.

  • That's good to know!  I bought lots of Maternity tops at Old Navy yesterday, but couldn't find a pair of jeans that I liked.
  • That is good to know! How do they run? Did you buy online? (I'm pretty sure none of our Gaps have them in store).  I am always hit or miss with clothes, but I am a Gap girl and want lots of maternity clothes from there....
  • Honestly, with the bloat problems in the beginning, I'd go for it.  I tried the rubber band thing in the very beginning and my jeans had a little wierd point in the front where they weren't fastened...I also felt like the zipper was always coming down.  Maybe the bella band works...don't know.  I figured I can wear these jeans for a while now and after the baby arrives until my body returns to normal.  I thought of getting bigger jeans, but then they are really baggy in my butt and look horrible.

Yes, just stick to a hair band looped through your button hole if you need it.

With 29 days to go my gap cityfit maternity jeans are still my favorite, and while a bit snugger, they still fit.

  • JCM052707, I found out through the local boards in the D.C. area that Baby Gap also has Gap Maternity in one of our malls.  So, if you have a local board in your area, try posting.  Or, you could call the baby gap and see if they have maternity as well.  I refused to buy online and I actually ended up with a size smaller than what my normal jeans were (right now I was a 6 in regular jeans, but 4 in maternity).  HTH!

  • My FAVE pair of maternity jeans were Gap! Unfortunately, they didn't last my whole pregnancy b/c I had to move up a size then!!!

Yes--- I would seriously consider investing in some bella bands though! They worked wonders for me for a loooooooong time!

  • Thanks.  Our baby gap doesn't have maternity (was there yesterday hehe) so I'll just have to order online... but I think they have free return shipping so it's not a huge deal besides the instant gratification part of me :)

I do have a Bella Band though that I Love so I think that will get me through for some time now. :)

  • i just got some from old navy for $9! gotta love it. other than that, i got a few non-mat pairs just a size bigger cuz i can't bring myself to go into motherhood maternity yet, not sure why. i chickened out Embarrassed
  • oh,  it's not bad.  Once you try them on you will feel better.  I felt weird to b/c I'm pretty small and am not really showing so people probably looked at me funny....but I don't care:-)

Hey I'm also in NOVA, and just wondering what mall has the maternity section?

  • I just bought my first pair from Target last night and I ordered some Gap ones online this morning. Glad to hear you guys love the Gap ones!

  • I had two pair of maternity jeans during my last pregnancy. ?One was Gap and one was Citizens. ?The Gap fit better and were more comfortable. ?They were my favorite thing to wear, even when I was past my due date and HUGE and nothing fit right. ?I'm definitely buying more for this pregnancy.
  • I just tried on the gap mat jeans I bought online and I love them!  I have to get them hemmed since I am 5'1", but they are so comfy.  They aren't full panel, but they fit right now, so they probably won't last through the whole pregnancy.  I never lost the bloat from IVF, but these are super comfy.  DH and I went to MM - I just don't care if I look pg... I paid too much money to get pg to care - I just want to be comfortable :)

P.S.  I also got some things from gap that didn't fit, and they have FREE, EASY returns.

  • I love Gap and Old Navy maternity pants.  I couldn't button or zip my pants after 7 weeks (not very professional) so last week I just went looking to see about the options.  I was prepared to just get a couple Bella Bands but Gap and ON both have size 0 maternity and XS and they fit perfectly!!  It is really hard normally to find clothes that fit let alone maternity clothes so I am stoked.  Plus, they were all pretty much 60% off at ON.  $11 pants is a dang good deal IMO.  I put the rest of my pants away and am SO much more comfortable now.  They are super cute--like normal cords, jeans, and khakis but with a small panel or just low rise waist.  So, I recommend not worrying if it's "too early" but just trying them if you are uncomfortable in your other clothes.  Everyone is different and I can tell you that my belly is bloated and definitely changing when nobody thought it would this early.   If you can't zip your pants it's time for plan B.  :D
  • ((butting in)) Thanks for that tip!  I'll be looking for the Gap Maternity in later months I'm sure.  I imagine it's probably in Tyson's Corner??

  • Tyson's might have it, but I went to the one in Fair Oaks b/c someone on the local board said they had Maternity.  I try to avoid tysons's if possible:-)
