Infertility

DOR people

Hello everyone.  I haven't been on here in a long time but wanted to inform people who may have been diagnosed with DOR. I am 33 years old with DOR. My husband is 33 with no concerns from the doctor. Here is our story...

We did two IVF cycles with no success.  Our next step was donor eggs, but needed some time to process this route we were faced with.  Our doctor at the time said my egg quality isn't good (1egg first time and 1 egg that fertilized 2nd IVF cycle but still 2 BFN's).  With our insurance only covering 4 IVF cycles a lifetime we faced going the donor egg route.  My DH had a harder time with this than I did, but that was because I wanted to be a mom so bad.  We decided to take some time off and enjoy life with each other since we were so wrapped up in this life of infertility.  My husband was speaking to a co-worker one day about our heartbreaks. She informed him our insurance had changed from 4 cycles covered a life time to 4 covered a year. HUGE NEWS for us it brought life back to us.  We ended up going to a new doctor who gave us hope again.  She wanted to change some things up and wanted to add a shot called Saizen which helps with egg quality. Only problem insurance didn't cover it, but since we are so lucky our instance is amazing we went and paid $3000 for this shot that I would be on for ten days.  ER day came and they received 3 eggs of good quality. Of course we waiting 24 hours to hear how many fertilized and 2 fertilized. Five days later we were given grades on our embryos and both were 4AA. Huge news again.  Our Doctor told us we would do a frozen retrieval because DOR patients have more success with frozen.  The process was long and the day of our transfer finally came. I looked up tips to help the embryo stick which were: watching a funny movie he night before (check, did it), eat pineapple cores (check, did it) relaxed and took it easy (check, did it), we also decided not to tell anyone this round. Even though we loved the support we wanted this to be stress free and didn't want our lives to be consumed by everyone questions on how we're doing. 10 days later, pregnancy test. Doctor called at 10:30am.....I thought this is way too early to get a good call, this can't be good, BFP!!!! We are now 5 weeks 5 days today and not telling anyone made it that more fun announcing it to our families.

I am am writing this not to brag, because I've been in your place and it sucks seeing everyone get pregnant when your not. I write this to inform you of things we did and the Saizen shot that I believe helped my egg quality. Please if you have any questions for me, feel free to private message me. I am here to help support anyone who needs it. Hope you ladies get your BFP soon!!!

  • Congratulations!! Wishing to you a very healthy pregnancy. Thanks for posting
  • Congrats! For those interested, Omnitrope is another human growth hormone your RE can prescribe and is a bit cheaper. (We tried it but only made it two days due to an allergic reaction to it.)
