Endometrial Lining

Hi friends!

I had my first dr appt today to check follicle count after starting clomid this month.  Looks like we have two promising follicles which I'm super excited about but the dr noted that my endometrial lining is thin (2.45 - according to dr, it's suppose to be 6).  Dr said to go ahead and try this month and that we would add another hormone to help compensate for the clomid's thinning of my lining.  I know the lining is what the embryo would attach to so it's obviously important.  My question (that I didn't think about til after I left the appointment) is what are the implications of a thin lining?  Does it increase risk of miscarriage?  How risky is it?  Dr said go ahead but I'm still a little hesitant... Any wisdom or insight would be appreciated.

Re: Endometrial Lining

  • What are your follies measuring? If they're just over 10 then you have time for your lining to thicken. I've heard that Pomegranate juice can help with lining issue. It's worth a shot!

  • The bigger issue is that it would/could be harder for implantation across the board. Are you on progesterone to increase your lining (or will you start as soon as ovulation is concerned)? If not, there are some easy things you can try at home to support your lining. By try, do you mean TI? Or are you doing IUI? (I would think with a lining that thin they would cancel an IUI.)

  • Thank you both for your replies!

@hispenguin, I have one at 14 and one at 12(?).  I've been drinking as much pomegranate juice as I can handle!

@adunkin, since this is my first round, she didn't have me on anything to boost lining.  I've done a ton of reading though and started taking Omega 3, vitamin E, drinking pomegranate juice and red raspberry leaf tea and doing a warm castor oil compact on my belly as of yesterday (CD10). I use young living oils and am hoping use of progessence plus will help compensate since she didn't give me a prescription.  Do you have any other recommendations?  And yes,  we're only doing TI.

  • Oh yeah - you won't O for at least a few more days (and then you have several days before implantation). You've got loads of time! If you're open to that kind of thing, more "blood" foods could be helpful (red meat and fruits and veg that are red/purple/dark green). You could also start taking a baby aspirin tablet each day. And a daily orgasm - on your own or with a partner - can increase your lining (there are actual studies about it). Good luck (and don't give up hope - my lining always thickens a lot from my u/s before trigger to IUI)!
