7 month old only Drinks 4 oz bottles

LO is formula fed , and still drinks 4oz ... He went through a stage where he was drinking 6 for like a week I guess a growth spurt? then , he started throwing up after that so I would make 5 oz bottles and he would just drink 4 ounces and there was 1 visibly left over all the time so now I'm back to just making 4 oz bottles.

He eats solids cereal and fruit in the morning or Toast and fruit, and in the evenings he has veggies looooves carrots and squash.

Anyways , is this normal ? I keep seeing post about babies even younger than my LO drinking 6-8 ounce bottles!! I know all babies are different ...

How old is your LO and how many ounces does LO drink ?

Hey :) yea my daughter is 7 months too and ever since my daughter started eating solids She only drinks her formula to sleep. So about 4 bottles a day .. And it's aways 4 ounces. Bedtime sometimes is 5 ounces. I think it's normal right ?

  • Our ped said to aim for 24+ oz total but he gave no preference to how many oz LO got at a time.  We do 3 8oz bottles but thats what works for our guy.  If you LO can only take 4oz at a time that's fine just make sure that they are getting enough throughout the day.
  • We still do 4oz bottles because he spits up a lot. Even if we try 5oz the spitting up gets worse. He eats every two hours. It's what works for us so I'm not worried about it.
  • Yes,my guy will do 4-6 oz bottles.
  • I wouldn't worry about it unless he isn't gaining or starts to lose weight. When I thought our LO wasn't eating enough it turns out that she was just ready to move up a nipple size. She's 8 months on Friday and was drinking 8 oz bottles for a while (probably growth spurt) but now she's stopping anywhere between 3 and 6 oz at a time. We get between 20 and 30 oz a day. She's super inconsistent but she's happy and healthy so I don't worry about it.

Seems about right , I guess since he eats solids through the day he's alright. He's not as chunky as before but I think it's because he's longer and really active , crawling and jumping all the time lol ... I guess if he was hungry he would definitely let us know hahahaha thanks girl !

    Thanks !
  • I think like someone said earlier go for the days total target ounces and it doesn't matter how you get there.  Both of my babies drink small quantities at a time.  Around 2-5 ounces in a bottle.

My LO is only drinking 4 ounces as well but drinks those more frequently like every 2 hours. It works for us since she's still a huge spitter upper.
  • Phewwww thanks ladies ! LO went for his check up today and everything is on the up and up with his growth. Thank u so much for the encouraging words , now I'm battling a low yet stubborn fever from immunization shots.

:( but LO is still eating so I guess that's a good sign but I can't sleep no matter how hard I try.
