I said I'd never...

Fun question =)

I am slowly eating ALL of my words that I said pre-pregnancy, and I know I will be eating a lot more over the next 18 years! haha!!!

For example, my husband and I work A LOT.. we own our own business, he has a gov't daytime job, and I'm on staff at our church. So we literally work all the time, Saturday's and Sundays included. I used to get so mad at people asking me "how can you be so tired you don't have kids" or telling me I didn't know what tired was and that I would realize it one day. Well now I know what tired is and I know I'm just going to be more and more tired once this baby gets here!

Also, trying to get my sisters to get baby sitters so we could go to the pool kid free during the summer...I told a friend of mine who doesn't have kids that this was our last kid free summer at the pool and she suggested I get a sitter next summer and I lost it on her. hahahaha! I get it now.

I told DH last night we are in for a serious reality check and I take back and apologize for everything i've ever said!

What are some things you said you'd never do, or reality checks you've had since you've been pregnant or with your first child?

*edited words.. can't type today!*

The baby needed pizza last week. No shame.

  • @KarliQ88 We were in the no kid boat too and now we are on baby #2!  How quickly things can change!

I also said pregnancy wouldn't get in the way of being fit and eating healthy,  that went out the window pretty quick!
  • TV of course.  I said I'd never let DS1 play with my phone which was a lie.  He's playing with it now.  YouTube has definitely been a part of our toolbox when it comes to ABC's, letter sounds, counting etc.

I was really determined that he not have those frozen chicken nuggets.  Then I got pregnant and had horrible exhaustion and nausea with DS2.  He had those things like every other day at that point.

I was really judgey about the whole "moms don't have time to shower" thing.  I was an idiot, showering actually is a chore when you have a baby and forget drying my hair.  That only happens on date night.

@EH112212 Sorry to threadjack.  DS2 (10 months) has RAD and needs treatments as well.  Is this something you'd be willing to answer questions about if its a similar situation?
  • I always said I wouldn't use the phrase "because I said so" but the "why" phase is hitting hard and this pregnant momma just can't deal.....I think I've said it at least 5 times today..

I have been eating healthy all week, and told myself I was going to keep this up the whole 40 weeks. Fast forward to 10 seconds ago and I am googling "best fast food dessert" bc a) I want dessert, but b) ain't nobody got time to go into an actual restaurant or store. Any suggestions???

I swore I wouldn't bed share, but DD would only sleep if she was on my chest. She's 2 and she still begs to sleep in my bed.

I used to think cravings were totally made up and an excuse for pregnant women to get what they wanted...I feel that I need to apologize for all the times I thought that. Now, not only do I crave McDonald's and Burger King constantly, they're one of the few foods that help me overcome nausea! I'm sorry for thinking such mean thoughts, universe!
    @MaryNog
I had to make the same apology to the universe! Yesterday the ONLY thing I could eat and that helped my nausea was a crispy chicken sandwich and fries from burger king! And I swore up and down I would eat healthy.... Nearly impossible with M/S....

Same here with the "I'm going to eat healthy" and unfortunately I have a DH who is really a super healthy eating freak. I told him I was craving Taco Bell and he's like I'll make homemade tacos tonight!

Thanks hun...buuut TB still sounds way more amazing!  I haven't tried it yet, but would it be really bad to? lol and right now I am loving Anne's Mac & Cheese and for some reason cereal for dinner...

"I'll never make a separate meal for my kid. She will eat what we eat."

Until she wouldn't sleep because she was hungry.

Sleep deprivation is a tricky b and caused me to back off on most of my "I'll never"s

What is it with these magical chicken sandwiches???

    Hope everyone gets better soon!
  • So many of these sound so familiar. With this pregnancy I told myself I was going to eat healthier (my first one I lived on pizza because that was the only thing that sounded good and meat in general repulsed me). I started out really well, then week 6 the M/S hit and I've been nauseous 24/7 since then so if it sounds good, is loaded with carbs, and generally not healthy for me it's being consumed because it helps the nausea go away. I keep telling myself, once the nausea subsides I will get back on track. Also, pretty sure Disney Jr entertained my 18mo a lot longer than intended this weekend because I just didn't have anything left.

  • I said I would never make my daughter a different dinner than I was cooking DH and I and I do that almost daily just so she will eat.  She is 3.5 now and just starting to really eat the things we do so it's getting easier.

I also said I would only BF for one year, I ended up BFing for 2yrs & 2 months.

I eat cereal pretty much every day because it goes down so easily! I don't like sharing it with DS though who always wants "some please, please some".

  • We told everyone we were in the "one and done" club; and now I'm pregnant (planned).

Our 18month old also love TV (Bubble Guppies), but she eats like a champ while watching it, so I'll take it!

My DD loves Bubble Guppies. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't entertained by it, too. There is a lot of adult humor in there. And hey, at least it's educational!

  • I was also in the "she'll eat what we eat" group, but mostly now that means we all eat kid-friendly foods... Not really what I had intended.

  • I said I would workout when I was pregnant, yeah that stopped. I also said I would eat good when I was pregnant...not that I am going crazy with the bad foods, but I am definitely not sticking to a strict diet.
