What's new with baby (how far along are you, size, development)?
Even though it's early, is there anything you're doing to plan/get ready for the baby's arrival?
Rant/rave/symptoms/questions:
When is your next appointment?
GTKY: What's your go-to "signature" recipe for when you cook for others?
Re: Tuesday Ticker Change (6/7)
Even though it's early, is there anything you're doing to plan/get ready for the baby's arrival? We just got home from a month long trip abroad so I think we're going to buckle down on looking for houses this month so we'll be moved in before baby comes.
*TW MC mentioned*
Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: I think my MS may actually start to be going away (in a non-scary way, I think the placenta is just starting to take over, woooo). Had my first pimple this week since I was 15, and am mostly just exhausted all the time. I'm kind of appreciative of this phase of pregnancy because I'm now officially further along than I was last time I lost my pregnancy (technically I was at 8 weeks since it was a MMC that got spotted about 2 weeks later) so all the new end-of-first trimester symptoms are kind of brand new to me and I'm really looking forward to experiencing a part of pregnancy I haven't before
When is your next appointment? Tomorrow! I don't know if it's an ultrasound appointment yet. If it's not, I'm going to ask for them to schedule one ASAP since I have not had one yet.
GTKY: What's your go-to "signature" recipe for when you cook for others? I make a really killer breakfast hash with bacon, garlic, caramelized onions, sweet potatoes, rosemary, and fried eggs. It's based off this paleo recipe but I've made a lot of modifications to it
Even though it's early, is there anything you're doing to plan/get ready for the baby's arrival? we need to figure out what to do with our guest room furniture since we need this bedroom for new baby. I'm sad because this was "my" room for gift wrapping and my desk. But, need to make room for new bundle.
Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: rant: I broke my left fibula in April and have to go to PT. I am frustrated with myself for the whole mess because it should never have happened. I am worried that it won't heal in time for the rest of my body to fall apart later on in PG. I keep envisioning my ligaments loosening while having this pain and I think I will be at risk of re-injury. Plus I have MS most of the day which makes this a difficult moment in time.
When is your next appointment? A week from tomorrow is my first appointment.
GTKY: What's your go-to "signature" recipe for when you cook for others? I have a couple of easy go to recipes, but the last one I did for others was chicken tacos using A rotisserie chicken from the supermarket adding a green salsa to the shredded chicken and putting out all the fixings making it a chicken taco bar. It was super easy and everyone loved it!
Even though it's early, is there anything you're doing to plan/get ready for the baby's arrival? DH wants to sit down and create a budget this week. We bought a new car, a house, an exterminating plan, life insurance, ... lots of expensive but important essentials we need to figure out how we'll budget for each month. I hate talking finances but it seems fair enough.
Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: The back pain is outrageous. I've had back pain since I was 16 years old so I'm not surprised. Not being able to use my heating pad or ibuprofen is the worst. My MS seems to be worse than ever, but it is also more inconsistent than ever. I feel like I'm actually starting to catch breaks and I can see the second trimester light!
When is your next appointment? Two weeks from today!
GTKY: What's your go-to "signature" recipe for when you cook for others? Spinach artichoke dip in the crockpot. Wherever there's a party, I'm always asked to make it!
@christac1010 lol right? I can't think of the last time I've seen a kumquat in the wild. OH and I had a mini-argument last night on how big prunes actually are because I mean... when do you ever eat prunes unless you're 80? At least next week it's lime and then other more recognizable fruits
@gigantan yikes! Take care of yourself. Did you tell your physical therapist your pregnant?
@christac1010 sounds delicious. Something you got online or one you made?
What's new with baby (how far along are you, size, development)? i'm 9 weeks. Baby is officially a fetus and not an embryo. Apparently it means that is the size of a peanut. I'm guessing they mean the whole peanut (shell and all) the little peanuts on side seem too small. Like 5 weeks or something.
Even though it's early, is there anything you're doing to plan/get ready for the baby's arrival?
We started putting extra money in savings so i can take full maternity leave.
Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: Nothing really
When is your next appointment? end of june. Like 3 weeks. It's killing me!
GTKY: What's your go-to "signature" recipe for when you cook for others? it doesn't really have a name..well i guess ir does cause we've just been calling it hoagie dip. Its everything you woyld eat in a hoagie sub (various lunch meats,Provolone cheese, lettuce, onion, tomatoes? Peppercini, mayo/seasonings,olive oil) you mix it all in a bowl and serve it over baguettes or french bread. So good!!! Obviously this is a no-no for me now but I'll be eating it when this pregnancy is over. Not even for a party just to have at home because i can eat it
Even though it's early, is there anything you're doing to plan/get ready for the baby's arrival?
Saving money, and we'll start getting the soon to be nursery cleaned out if we can ever be home for more than 48 hours at a time.
Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: this isn't really an angry rant, but a tired one. H's grandmother passed this weekend. We were able to spend some nice time with her by visiting a couple of times over the past two weeks. We were in Mississippi this weekend when she passed, and if FIL had been frank with us about how poorly she was doing, H would have brought his cello and banjo (both of which he'll play at the funeral). But we didn't bring them, so we had to make the 11 hour drive back home, then turn around and go back again today. My complaints make me sound like a terrible human being, H lost his grandmother, after all. But we're both so, so tired, we have to pull over to let me pee/walk around/dry heave at least once an hour, and H is very sad. We're just worn thin.
When is your next appointment? a week from today
GTKY: What's your go-to "signature" recipe for when you cook for others? if it's a party, then either taco ring ( croissant rolls baked with taco fixings inside) or poppy seed ham sliders. If it's just another couple, I'll do tortellini tomato soup or turkey and edamame meatballs.
Even though it's early, is there anything you're doing to plan/get ready for the baby's arrival? Not much this week. Mainly getting more serious about deciding on names!
Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: Sorry I have been MIA for a little while. I have been fighting off a migraine since May 23rd. Combined with morning sickness, fatigue, bloating (seriously - I look pregnant this week!), cramping, etc. I have been a total mess! But I'm still chugging along, hanging in there, hoping and praying that everyone's right about 2nd trimester being so much easier.
When is your next appointment? June 20th. I will have genetic testing done that day because cystic fibrosis runs in my family. Which means we'll find out the sex not long after that. We could know while I'm still in the first trimester. Craziness!
GTKY: What's your go-to "signature" recipe for when you cook for others? Guys, all I can manage to eat right now is chicken noodle soup and popsicles. So this conversation is killing me lol. But DH loves to grill so if we've got company, we will usually grill out thick, bone-in pork chops with grilled corn, baked potatoes, green beans, etc. But for parties we like to make spinach artichoke dip or buffalo chicken dip. Here's our recipe for the buffalo chicken dip. Now if only I could eat some right now!

It's a girl!
@Emerald24 so sorry about your migraine but glad that you're back with us!
My babe is 7 weeks today, the size of a blueberry. He/she has doubled in size to .51" since last week! Still has a tail, though
We still aren't really doing anything to prepare, but we've told some more people: a couple of friends and our parents! It's getting more real, especially since I'm feeling worse with MS.
I guess MS and some weird heart stuff/symptoms are what's been going on with me. I updated on the appt thread for this week. I visited the doctor unexpectedly today because of it, but my real first appt is next Thursday, yay! Ultrasound!!!
I go through phases with what my go-to recipes are, but currently it's this really yummy frozen/slushy fruit salad, homemade french fries, and those little baked Hawaiian ham and swiss sandwiches. Also, for a sweet treat, I make caramel puffcorn (like caramel corn but you use that Mike sells puff corn instead of popcorn)....it's always requested!
Not much in the way of preparations. Probably won't do a whole lot until we are in our new house, and once we find out if we're having a girl or boy. Then we will know if we can re use all of DSs clothes or will have to get some new stuff for a girl. Thankfully all of the big stuff (crib, stroller, car seat) are gender neutral.
The morning sickness and nausea are in full force this week. Pretty much the same time I got it last time but this feels far worse.
My my next appointment is June 17th. It'll just be a regular appointment with the OB. I won't have an ultrasound again until the 20 week anatomy scan.
Buffalo chicken dip is my go to appetizer to bring! I also love making cheese empanadas and if I have to bring a dessert it's store bought publix chocolate chip cookies because I can't bake anything!
Even though it's early, is there anything you're doing to plan/get ready for the baby's arrival?
We are talking about putting a wall up in the office and breaking it into 2 rooms so we can setup a nursery and still keep the office.
Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: I had almost no MS and I've been quiet about it bc I didn't want to jinx it, but yesterday it hit me in full force. I'm glad it didn't start at 6 weeks like my last pregnancy but I thought I was out of the woods so it made for a really crappy Monday.
When is your next appointment? in 2 weeks for my 12 week scan!
GTKY: What's your go-to "signature" recipe for when you cook for others? Buffalo chicken dip - my brother gave me the recipe years ago and it's a hit.
@cjs260 I'm so sorry for your family's loss. On the completely other end of the spectrum, a taco ring sound amazing. I'm going to have to look into that.
What's new with baby (how far along are you, size, development)?
10 weeks, the size of a strawberry. Baby has fingers now. I was so happy seeing all the wiggling on the US yesterday!
Even though it's early, is there anything you're doing to plan/get ready for the baby's arrival?
We're trying to put more money into savings. We're also trying to finalize our reveal to the grandparents-to-be since my in-laws will be in town next week for a Copa America game.
Rant/rave/symptoms/questions:
I've been so nauseous the last few weeks. Fortunately, I have not vomited or dry heaved in 24 hours. So now that I feel well enough to finally have sex, I remember I'm still on pelvic rest. I'm over these hormones.
When is your next appointment?
Next Monday for 1st Trimester blood screen.
GTKY: What's your go-to "signature" recipe for when you cook for others?
I always have to do desserts for family gatherings. Pecan pie bars, lemon coconut cake, and chocolate lava cake are usually most requested. If for some reason they let me bring a regular side, I have a go to salad that is popular with most people. It's just mixed greens, chopped pear, cranberries, chopped pecans, gorgonzola, and champagne dressing.
What's new with baby (how far along are you, size, development)? Week 6, the size of a ladybug!
Even though it's early, is there anything you're doing to plan/get ready for the baby's arrival? I've started slowly cleaning out the office that is to become the nursery, but that's about it. I really want to start preparing more but I just can't until I at least hear the heartbeat.
Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: It's hard to tell if MS is actually starting or not. All I have is a slight bit of queasiness throughout the day, and I can only snack, no big meals. Also tons of food aversions. But it still freaks me out that I'm not in constant vomit mode, like it's mild enough to easily hide. I'm trying to be thankful that it's not horrible yet, but it's still scary, and it doesn't help that I feel like the boob soreness is kind of disappearing. I keep asking DH if it looks like they're getting smaller since they grew so much last week.
When is your next appointment? First appointment is June 20th, it still seems so far away. But I do know they're doing an u/s and some other tests (not exactly sure what). I will feel much better after actually getting to see our sea monkey.
GTKY: What's your go-to "signature" recipe for when you cook for others? I usually change it up, but I do make these really good buffalo chicken bites with crescent rolls. I like baking more than cooking, and one of my favorites to make is strawberry lemonade cheesecake cupcakes.
Jan '17 August siggy challenge: Cat fails
Even though it's early, is there anything you're doing to plan/get ready for the baby's arrival?
Meh not much on this front yet.
Rant/rave/symptoms/questions:
Still with the MS. The end is in sight *fingers crossed and based on when it ended last pregnancy* but I wish it was over now
When is your next appointment?
A week from todayyyyyy it's my first one so I'm pretty much dying of impatience
GTKY: What's your go-to "signature" recipe for when you cook for others?
I have a super top secret family recipe for chocolate chip cookies I get asked to bring to events pretty often.
Eta: sorry about the weird bolding. I'm mobile bumping and can't bring myself to care enough to get on the computer and fix it
@aishmc it's so easy! Just cook your taco flavored meat, put the meat and cheese into the "crescent" roll, then fold close and bake according to crescent roll packaging. Serve with taco fixings! In high school I won a cooking contest with it!
@Emerald24 It's "what he does". Also, it's more important to FIL (whose mother she is) that H play. H is happy to do it, but it has been a pain in our butts literally. But I'm glad that H has the ability to honor his grandmother in such a way.
@Dinozaur they are! I'm totally craving them, and I'm totally going to eat them after making sure the ham is heated properly! Haha!
