Re: To ease your mind

  • I like this one even better. It is adapted from the one above but it shows your odds of NOT having a miscarriage.

  • LOL! That actually makes me feel worse! I guess I knew there were plenty of people who had late in term miscarriages but I never realized it didn't even drop below a 2% chance of miscarriage. I am sure that 2% is made up of the most complicated pregnancies most of the time, so I'd probably know by 9 weeks if I would likely be in that 2% but still. Geeze. Its good to see that I have a 94% chance of carrying this baby to term (give or take).
  • thank you for this :)

@emilyn2012 I've seen some other stuff that says it drops to like 1% in the second trimester.

This is fetal death rate per 1,000 pregnancies over the course of the entire 40 weeks (from here), you can see it continues to drop into the second trimester further until it levels out at 24 to 27, then slightly goes up again at the end, but not by much. Obviously the decline after 23 weeks is largely due to the fact that the baby is potentially viable outside of the womb then, but it's worth pointing out that it does continue to go down in the second trimester.
