How far along are you? 13 weeks, so close to 2nd trimester!

What type of twins are you having? (I think everyone here is twins, right?) The ultrasound tech said fraternal

How are you feeling this week? Bored. lol. I'm starting to get more of my energy back, so sitting around is getting old. But I'm not quite ready to throw myself into any projects or workout routines.

Anyone talking names yet? So far we have Milo James, Austin John, Ellie Bliss....need a second girl name...

When is your next appt? FRIDAY! I can't wait!

Rants/Raves/Questions: Okay so I know that apparently 200mg of coffee is okay, but I haven't trusted myself to stick within that limit...so I cut coffee out altogether when I suspected I was pregnant. It hasn't been so bad...until recently. Lately I've just been craving coffee....are you ladies still drinking coffee? I was so paranoid about miscarriage that I just stayed away...but coming up on the 2nd trimester I'm wondering if I can indulge a bit. Obviously I can't have my normal quad shot mocha...grrr.

@brittnic86 - I have 1 cup a day that's really like 5-6 oz. I've been a coffee addict my whole adult life so that's hard. I'll need to cut completely if my BP gets high.

How far along are you? 12w5d

What type of twins are you having? (I think everyone here is twins, right?) Di-Di. Just an FYI for all... You can still have identicals with a Di-Di twin pregnancy. The only way to confirm for 100% is either having B/G or doing a DNA test after birth.

How are you feeling this week? Pretty good. Headaches have stated. I forgot about this phase.

Anyone talking names yet? We have a list we like. I wouldn't say anything is love yet, but I'm not going to put too much into it until we know what we're having.

When is your next appt? Two on Wednesday. Regular monthly OB and NIPT blood work and MFM for NT and the chorionicity scan that same day.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I'm hoping to get a clue on sex this week! The babies should be measuring 13w 5d and one of my close friends was told with 95% accuracy of her twins sex at 13 weeks. No guarantees, but I'm hopeful!

(my due date is off in case anyone is paying attention. I measured small first U/S when we only saw one baby and they pushed me back, now both babies are measuring ahead - but not acutually ahead, right on target but they won't move my due date back. I don't really understand what they were so quick to move me back a week but so stubborn to move me back when 3 scans now have shown the babies at the same due date).

@DiFazette Will the techs tell you the sex even if its not your "scheduled anatomy scan"? I'll be almost 14 weeks at my next appointment! It'd be cool to not have to wait another month and a half lol.

The due date thing is frustrating for me...because obviously babies will come whenever they damn well please...but at least with singletons you have a more narrowed down window. People ask me when I'm due, and I've just started saying around Thanksgiving lol. I'm hoping to go as long as I can!

@brittnic86 - I joked I was going to slip them a $20. I'm going to ask. Everyone I know that's had guesses has been at MFM with a level 2 (stronger/crisper) ultrasound rather than a standard OB machine. I don't know unless I ask, right?

Ultrasound tech said fraternal. Said I dropped two eggs - one from each side. Babies are in their own sacs.

How are you feeling this week? Dizzy. I have been having bad dizzy spells. Still having really bad back aches. Have very little appetite and have to force myself to eat. Lost 10 pounds by my 10 weeks appt and haven't gained any weight back yet. Finally get some energy back and feeling like myself again

Anyone talking names yet? Clayton Grandt and Ruby Joline. Both are family names. Also talked about John Douglas and Pasiley middle name to be decided but Clayton and Ruby are our first two.

When is your next appt? June 20....super bummed. They told me they aren't doing an ultrasound. Just a Doppler

@jazzminlee - I mentioned I my post that there is no way to determine if you twins are fraternal or identical except for 2 ways: confirmation of B/G twins, or a DNA test (usually by saliva swab) after birth. I just didn't want anyone thinking for sure their kids were fraternal when there is a chance they are not. I believe the chance is 30% identical even with Di-Di.

I hear you on dropping two eggs, by its nearly impossible to tell if both were fertilized, or if one fertilized and split.

Its tricky - all fraternal twins are Di-Di, but up to 30% of identical twins are Di-Di as well. There's a chance for all of us to have identicals unless you had IVF and know what was fertilized/what took.

What type of twins are you having? (I think everyone here is twins, right?) I think boy/girl, last week ultrasound the tech swore she saw one boy part-ish looking something lol. I already have DS so boy/girl would be perfect for us

How are you feeling this week? Better with the nausea, fatigue is still pretty strong though. DS started his summer vacation today so I have to think of things to do for us.

Anyone talking names yet? I have a girl's name picked out, had it for a long time. DS is a D name, girl name is a B name, so I'm thinking the other baby is a boy maybe we will do a C name...not sure if that's weird or not. And all the kids will have middle names that start with A after mine and DH's dads (both passed away).

When is your next appt? Thursday, moving over to a regular OB which is exciting. I'm nervous because I'll be new to the practice but my RE said the practice is the best and they deliver at the highest NICU hospital in the area. Its a 45 min drive from home but the RE wasn't too keen on the hospitals near me (I'm kind of in the corn fields).

Rants/Raves/Questions:

Crib talk question - with DS I got a mid-range (in my opinion) crib from the DaVinci brand. The crib scratched and was destroyed after one baby. I didn't buy the twin bedrails because I was concerned if it would hold up.
With twins, I'm thinking to buy a better quality crib (Munire were the ones I was thinking) and buy the extensions so that I will have two twin beds once they're done with the cribs.
Even if we have another child after the twins, I won't need two cribs in the future. & Selling the cribs would make me feel sad lol.

Anyone do any thinking on this subject? Buy any cribs yet?

@mrsstarski86 - I'm doing the exact opposite. These are our last 2, so we're doing 'cheap' cribs. They have to match because I'm OCD and I'm not going to buy 2 expensive cribs.

@DiFazette a valid point! I'm in between, I considered getting the non-convertible ones as another option but they don't seem to be any cheaper.
If the "better" cribs last through the twin bed years, they'll be worth it I think. But if they get ruined like my last one then it'll be an expensive mistake

@mrsstarski86 - DS beat up his crib and we use it as a toddler bed, but it's not going further than that. There's Graco convertible cribs I'm ordering Friday that are $130 each.

My mom bought me one crib at Wal-Mart. We got another one from a friend. We plan on having the twins share a crib in beginning so not even sure we are going to set up both cribs in the beginning

My best friend had twins and did 2 mini-cribs... her kids are VERY large for their age too, and are still in them at 2! I might go that route....

Ugh- and I just realized that I'm about two weeks behind everyone!!! 10w4d.... it's funny how much those few weeks matter in the beginning

I know soon everyone won't even remember what week they are- but getting there takes forever!

How are you feeling this week? Fine- was feeling pretty decent energy wise today finally, but that pooped off about a half hour ago.... now I'm just exhausted.

Anyone talking names yet? not til we find out what they are....

When is your next appt? Yes tomorrow- FINALLY. It's just the original nurse intake appointment, but maybe she'll let me know whats on the plan ahead....

Rants/Raves/Questions: today the question came to me "will I be able to reach my keyboard at work at the end??" I'm also super wanting to be excited for having twins... but I'm not quite there yet... I think I'm still a little in denial....but the people I have told have been more "oh good luck with that" versus "yay!!!" so I might be feeding off that too- I never know how to react....

@jazzminlee - you should tell them you can't handle two so you're going to sell one. The first few days at home will be like hunger games and whichever baby wins gets to stay.

What type of twins are you having? (I think everyone here is twins, right?) di di, and pretty sure they are fraternal as they run on my side, several pairs of fraternal twins

How are you feeling this week? I'm increasingly more nauseous and actually threw up today, gross! Trying to stay positive but I am so exhausted

Rants/Raves/Questions: is anyone else having to go in a lot to get their cervix measured? I was told when I hit 14 weeks they want to see me every week...?! Also someone has already tried to reach for my belly. I'm not even showing yet! If you didn't put it there, don't touch it! I also haven't really done anything to get ready yet... I think I am still in denial about the twins and being pregnant.

I there, just joined today. Expecting twins on 25 December so November it is. I think they r fraternal. Not gonna lie, not very clued up on babies so everything is weird. First timer. 12 weeks on Saturday and hv a very obvious belly. Just g I found somewhere to chat with other mommies of many.

Omg ladies I literally had this girl come up to me that I barely knew and asked me how I "got" twins? Lets just say I had enough of people that day I said well you know lots of sex......it just amazes me what people think they can ask

Have you guys heard about these ladies who take unmonitored fertility drugs to attempt to have multiples? I hope there aren't any on this board, and if you are one - you're probably best keeping it to yourself. I will judge hard for taking dangerous medication that NEEDS medical monitoring and is supposed to be strictly limited to certain timeframes. Anywho - if you attempt to join any Facebook twin groups, they ask for proof to weed out these crazy people. It's very odd. Apparently they can get very fatal instinct-ish on people with twins. Yikes.

@DiFazette wtf?? unmonitored fertility drugs? People do that?! People just ask us if we have twins in our families...which I guess we kinda do. But my doctor said it has to do with the mother's side...so I would think that would mean me..my mom...my grandma...right? I have twin cousins, and a cousin with triplets on my dad's side. But other than my mom saying my grandma miscarried twins, nothing on my mom's side. I honestly think it was birth control that resulted in twins! I've read several things that say you're more likely to get pregnant with twins if you get pregnant immediately after stopping BC. I was BC for 12 years when I stopped after my last period, and immediately got pregnant. All my friends were like, oh it's probably going to take awhile for you to get pregnant because you've been on BC so long. I even told DH that I could not get a period, and still not be pregnant, because I had been on BC for so long and just didn't know. HA. That's a funny joke...

If you guys haven't been able to tell yet, I'm a research addict so I've found a few things that point to twins for me.

1. I'm just about 34. The older you get the higher chance of ovulating multiple eggs. This is my docs guess on my twins.
2. Apparently increased dairy intake can create mild hyper fertility. You can read on your own to determine if you agree, but it all makes sense to me
3. Twins are more likely in people who are large in stature or overweight. I could stand to lose 20-25 lbs. I wouldn't think this is a huge contributor for me since my BMI is in the high 20's, but that's 'overweight'.

And yes, crazy people all over take really serious drugs to try to have multiples. Crazy, crazy people.

I think they are trying to ask if I had some sort of fertility treatment which I didn't. I just can't handle how rude and nosey people are. I won't even allow my ultrasounds to be shared on Facebook. People already touching my stomach. People just need to stop.

Side note - I haven't been able to find any twin groups on Facebook....you guys find some?

@DiFazette well, I am overweight..but prior to getting pregnant I read that would work against me getting pregnant lol. Definitely not on the dairy thing...unless cheese? I know it's dairy, but I think milk usually.

Had my second appointment and ultrasound today! Both doing amazing. We got to see them moving around, and hear their heartbeats! My doctor says I will have an ultrasound each time I come in, because it's the only way they can truly differentiate between the heartbeats.

@jazzminlee - yea people are so nosy!! We have twins "because of infertility treatments" but it's because my husband has a genetic condition and didnt have enough swimmers- and honestly these two were our "worst" (quality wise) embryos- so we really didnt expect them to both take- but that's clearly a longer story than I want to have with most people!! Especially since it was technically my husbands "issue" I always feel like I'm outing him, which i am super uncomfortable with since it's none of their business!!

Can't we just be happy to have 2 babies at once!! Now if people start asking me about how I plan on reaching the steering wheel at 8 months- I'll take that as a legitimate question

@DiFazette - well Dr. Barbara Luke says it's a GOOD thing to be a little overweight with twins because it's less weight you have to gain later- SCORE!! (I'm in the same boat). All your twin info has been very helpful to me

I can't believe people try for twins... Now that I'm here, i obviously want them 1 million%, but to TRY for it is just asking for trouble!!

@brittnic86 cute pics- really looking like babies! I'm a little worried to get so many ultrasounds.... though I know there isnt really a way around it...

@DiFazette - just less intervention feels better for me (unless there is a specific issue, of course)... they haven't done ultrasound safety trials since like, the early 90s, and obviously technology has gotten better/stronger since then.... so I'll do my best to keep them short and sweet, God willing, that there are no major issues with either twin. Ultrasound technology is used, for example, to break up kidney stones. Obviously at a stronger rate than used for prenatal ultrasounds, but still. Even my RE mentioned trying to limit exposure. I've had 2 so far.

This is our last chance ever at a baby(babies!) so I'll be an extra annoying paranoid one on this thread!!

Anyone else having issues with hunger?? I'll eat and think um full, but like an hour later, I'll be sitting there all "wait...am i hungry again or still full??" Haha

@Toller02 we finally heard the heartbeats using a Doppler at the doctors office. but the only way we THINK we heard both, is we saw one was faster than the other on the ultrasound. That's why my doctor said so many ultrasounds, to make sure both babies have strong heartbeats

Hey ladies - I am a lurker and haven't posted since I was in my IVF group but I have a question for you all. I am almost 12 weeks pregnant with twins and I have been having the most debilitating headaches for the past two weeks now...

I am still on fertility meds (monitored FYI lol) until this week when I hit my second trimester and I am wondering if my body is just on hormone overload (both progesterone and estrogen) or if is a twin thing or what? I have been taking tylenol and I hate taking any more meds than I am already on. I want so desperately to enjoy this pregnancy because it took me so many years and tries to get here, but to be honest I haven't had two days back to back where I didn't feel sick or in pain from these headaches. Any advice?

@cmmxv8 - welcome! I've had some nasty headaches in the past two weeks as well. Mine all seem to be tension headaches so I had a massage today. If you have a way to take your BP that might be a good idea. Headaches in pregnancy can be a sign if pre-e, but usually not this early or without warning.

@cmmxv8 hello! How much longer are u on meds for? I did an FET, and stopped estrogen at 10 weeks and weaning off progesterone by 12 weeks (I'm 11 now). I had a similar schedule for my fresh cycle.

Like @DiFazette I have had off and on tension headaches as well (the worst ever on Thursday ) but I went to the chiro and had DH help massage and used lots of heat, seems to be gone now.... (would have gotten a massage if I could have gotten in!!)

I felt my babies today. Got like a steady tickling feeling right below my belly button which is where they are "supposed" to be from what I have read. At least that's where they said my uterus supposed to be by week 14. Maybe I'm crazy but it sure made me smile and say hello
