I have missed you all!!! We have been in a whirlwind since coming home from the hospital but I wanted to update with a short birth story about our precious new princess, Ellie.
On Thursday 05/26 I went in for my normal 38 week apt. And after a ultrasound and cervix check my OB told me that my amniotic fluid levels had dropped from 11 on Tuesday (with the perinatologist) to 6 that day. She didn't want me to go home, to just go straight to L&D since she was concerned about a slow leak and slightly decreased fetal movement as well on the ultrasound.
I spent a good hour in the parking lot crying and calling all of our family (my mom wasn't scheduled to fly in until that coming weekend - I think I broke her heart telling her she was going to miss it). Once in L&D everything went slow. I was actually contracting pretty regularly on my own so they started Cervidil and I labored for a good 8 hours - by the morning I was only 3cm dilated and in the worst pain of my entire life. I was having back labor and Ellie was sunny side up causing me to have couplet contractions. I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on my worst enemy. I broke down and got the epidural around 4 in the morning.
Shortly after my epidural the babies heart rate started to show decels with every contraction worsening and worsening as the time went on. I think she was trying not to alarm me but having many other nurses come into the room to try to change my position and confirm what she was seeing/hearing. I had a bad feeling at some point and woke my sleeping husband (yeah- jerk slept through most of my laboring lol) and told him that I was pretty sure they were going to have to take me for a c-section. Sure enough, no more than five min later the doctor comes in and says that the baby isn't tolerating contractions and wasn't going to get better (considering I wasn't even on the pitocin yet and I wasn't continuing to dilate).
They took my to the OR and little miss was born at 7:10am on 5/27 (38w4d) Ellie weighed 6lbs 6oz and was 19inches long. By discharge she had lost 12.5% of her body weight so we had to supplement for a day. Went to the pediatrician the next day after getting home and she was up a bit and my milk had come in. Ellie and I have been learning each other and getting a hang of breast feeding. It's definitely the hardest thing I've ever done but I'm proud that I've continued through with what I wanted to do considering everything else involving my birth plan went exactly opposite of what I wanted.

. Didn't want an induction, didn't want a c-section, didn't want to supplement... Lol- such is life I guess. But Ellie is healthy and in my arms and that's all that matters.
I hope you all are doing well! I'm praying and thinking about all of you still waiting on the arrivals of your little ones as well as everyone who are enjoying life with their new additions. I've added some pics of our little peanut. ❤️
