Dress code woes

So I'm only barely 6 weeks along, but the struggle with bloat has made me absolutely hate the belt my work requires. I can only imagine that it will get worse as I get further into this pregnancy. Any ideas/suggestions/coping mechanisms? Or others in the same boat?

Is there any way your work can accommodate your situation? Like not require you to wear a belt? I can't even imagine how uncomfortable that would be. I'm only 7 weeks, but I already can't stand anything against my belly.

Ask if you can ditch the belt, that's what I did my last pregnancy. My workplace was really accommodating and they sorta have to be since you're pregnant, it certainly wouldn't hurt to ask. Especially when you get bigger there is a reason pregnancy pants don't come with belt loops.   :p

  • I feel your pain, I have to wear a uniform with a belt, and we have pregnancy uniforms but they're HUGE and nobody at my work actually knows yet. My top covers the top of my pants though, so I've been leaving the top button unbuttoned and keeping the belt very loose. Completely out of regs but I give not a single shit.

  • So far I'm good and my belt can be loosened if necessary. When I get bigger I'm going to have to look into borrowing a uniform and belt until I'm done. I think they'll be helpful. My problem isn't the belt, it's the things on the belt that I need. Maybe I won't need as much when my job adjusts for pregnancy.
  • Thanks all. I'm sure the guys I work with will either be completely accommodating or 100% merciless, haha. I'm hoping for the former, once they find out. My work has a pretty strict uniform including shirt being tucked in at all times, belt, polished shoes, etc. I may be able to get around it, but feel silly doing so at this point because I know it's just bloat and no one there knows about it yet except my boss. Last thing I want is to start a complain-train at work, eg "But Bosssss! SHE gets to not wear the uniform!"
  • @Dinozaur have you tried the hair tie trick for the pants button, I did that a lot with my first pregnancy.
  • @EH112212 That's a good idea, I had forgotten about that!

Tell the whiners when they are pregnant, they can forgo the belt too. I hate people like that. Btw where do you work that dress code is so strict ? Military, police, security?

Bahaha I wish! It's pretty embarrassing when compared to those professions. Nope, I work at Geek Squad  B)
That being said I am the only female, and I'm not quite ready to tell them all yet. I suppose for the sake of comfort though, I might have to.
