January 2017 Moms

Potentially stupid orgasm/uterus question

hopefully I am not the only person who occassionally feels for the height of my uterus, even though we're obviously not to the 12 week mark.
I * know* it's not supposed to move above the pelvis til 12 weeks.  But if I feel around after I orgasm, it is easily an inch above my pelvic bone.  Without an orgasm, I can't always be sure I'm feeling it but it seems to be about even with the top of my pelvic bone.

Its freaking me out a little.  H keeps slipping and saying "babies" and I really don't want twins...  Granted I'm a third time mom, but the last baby was 7 years ago and most stuff I see about growing quicker than usual is related to closely spaced pregnancies.

So my silly question:  I know orgasming makes your uterus contract, but does it also elevate it?

Anyone else overanalyzing this stuff? Haha

@gapeachrn Haha! The topic of my PhD research is sexual function after spinal cord injury. I mainly focus on males, but wrote a book chapter with my mentor and we included females, too. Erection/arousal and orgasm are very similar neuronally between males and females. A big difference is ejaculation.

  • @cjs260 what do you do for a living?!

This is better than any answer I ever imagined getting.

I'm a baby neuroscientist working towards my PhD. I study sexual function after spinal cord injury.

  • what led you to that? I mean, I get how people could get interested in neuroscience, but how did you end up with that being your specific area of interest? And which came first for you (neuroscience or sex/spinal injury)?

    This is so facinating.

It was it was a crazy, roundabout way. Long story short, my bachelor's is in biomedical engineering. I wanted to get my master's in a lab with spinal cord injury research, so that I could work in industry in spinal cord biomaterials. So, I join a lab who did spinal cord injury and sexual function, but they weren't focusing on that at the time, and I did my master's in neuroendocrinology and sex differences in the reward system of a PCOS animal model. When I decided to get my PhD, I wanted to incorporate sexual function/differences and spinal cord injury, so here I am! Haha!

  • I haven't had an orgasm in 12 weeks.
  • @thepax89 sorry. :(
This weekend is the first time I've been motivated to do anything at all in a few weeks. 1st tri is no fun.

@cjs260 do you know the work of Frederique Courtois?

@jlea05 Would you mind to follow me around and tell me that? Haha, such a confidence boost! Thanks!

@sdude Totally. I've read probably 90% of her work.
