High chair: Graco Blossom Vs. Graco Sous Chef

Hi Ladies! I am starting my registry and I am having a hard time with figuring out which high chair I want. I am currently thinking about the Graco Blossom vs the Sous chef, though I feel like they are both pretty expensive, especially the sous chef. I also liked the look of the chicco polly. Just wanted to know if any of you had opinions or other suggestions. I really like the idea of a multi functional seat. Thanks!

Re: High chair: Graco Blossom Vs. Graco Sous Chef

  • I have the Graco Blossom and I love it. Major reasons is because its so versatile between the booster and the detachable space saver function - With all the configurations I will be able to use it for two children at the same time. The Sous Chef is lighter weight which might be nice. My first thought with the Sous Chef was that between the swing, bumbo, bouncers, boppy, snuggler in the pack and play, and highchair I almost had too many infant seat options for baby and some of the items were either not used or minimally used and grew out of very fast.

  • My first thought with both of those is that they look like a royal pain to clean after every meal. I'm a big fan of hard plastic chairs for baby with minimal nooks and crannies, like the ikea high chair or the Fisher Price Healthy Care Deluxe booster seat.
  • Agree with the hard plastic high chair. We got a restaurant style plastic high chair (Rubbermaid brand) from Amazon at around 7 months and I had never been so happy to get rid of anything as my other Fisher Price high chair with the padding and nooks and crannies that always filled with crumbs and food.
  • IKEA high chair. Cheap, portable, and easy to clean.
  • The simple plastic high chairs are definitely the way to go. I initially planned on getting a pretty fabric one for DD but we were given a plastic one by a family member for free so we used it. I couldn't have been happier. Meal time can get soooooo messy and the fabric would've been a pain in the butt!
  • The fabric on the blossom wipes down easily. I was shocked how well food can be wiped off of it...the straps are a different story.

We have the blossom and it wipes down very easily except for the straps. Those I had to scrub with a wash cloth every few days, so we stopped using them a long time ago. The high chair is comfy for my son and he doesn't mind sitting there long after he's finished eating if we're playing play doh or something. I like how adaptable it is too. im not buying a new one for this baby, but if I was, I'd be looking into the magnetic 4 moms chair.

  • We have the blossom and it works great. I also love that the tray can be broken down 3x so I can be lazy with cleaning her tray. Lol. It wipes down easy, I just took the tiny infant padding out. Straps can get gross like any other chair and are easy to take off and soak in water for 15 to clean them.

I agree with those who said go for super simple. We had a fancy fisher price one which we used for the older two and it was a huge pain in the ass to clean, especially if we had to rush through a meal because we had to be somewhere and I didn't get to clean it until a bit later. Total waste of money for features we didn't care about, huge and bulky even when 'collapsed' and just really awkward and annoying. My kids seemed to enjoy finding every possible spot for food to be crammed into.

This time around we're getting an Ikea Blåmes high chair since it matches our dining table and looks to be very easy to clean. Bit nicer looking and sturdier feeling than the $20 plastic ones.
