What I find amazing about parenting? There's more than one way. Helicopter parenting or not, whatever rocks your boat. I don't need to be right or perfect, but I want to be happy.
I think you have a very distorted version on what "happiness" is. Sounds like being in control is what gives you the illusion of feeling happy, when what you're REALLY doing is just pacifying your neuroticism.
It is NOT healthy to live in fear, and you certainly can't derive happiness from it. If your hubby is a bio grad, he should know better than to fuel your irrational fears.
Please try to maintain perspective, it will do your unborn child a lot of good.
