1st Trimester

Looking for a little hope, low progesterone and bleeding

On Wednesday, I started with small amount of bright red bleeding that was only on tissue. I got into my MD's office and saw the midwife. There was a sac and she thought my uterus lining looked good. She did mention that I actually might not be as far (thought I was 6 weeks but she said it looks like 5 weeks) because I have 30+ day cycle and might have ovulated later. Anyway, I had blood work done my hcg was >1000 but my progesterone was 2.8. The midwife thinks that I most likely will be having a miscarriage. I had repeat labs done today and asked to be put on progesterone in the meantime in case there was a chance. The bleeding is still very light and only on toilet paper. Anyone had an experience similar and had a positive outcome. Not trying to unrealistic, just wondering if there could be a little glimmer of hope in this situation. I had a miscarriage a few months ago in which I bleed for two months which was emotionally draining, just hoping there is a slight chance that I will not have to go through this again.

Re: Looking for a little hope, low progesterone and bleeding

  • Sorry your going through this. I had reddish/pink spotting all of first tri and I'm 34 wks now. I was on progesterone suppositories till mid 12 wks. On the other hand I also had an mc a few months prior to this pregnancy despite being on progesterone right after ovulation. Progesterone will support a viable pregnancy but not prevent a miscarriage. I hope that taking it will help you out and continue on with a happy and healthy 9 months. Hang in there girl. Best of luck!

  • So sorry you are having to deal with this. I'll pray for a good outcome! Love to you and your little one ❤️
  • My initial progesterone levels were 4.6 I was put on suppositories immediately! I delt with spotting for about 3 weeks (5-8), they noticed a small fluid pocket on my uterus that has since gone away. I am now 10w6d and baby has a very strong heartbeat in the 170's. Don't lose hope! Stay positive! It's the only thing you can do!
