What are you ladies up to this week?

DD and I met up with my local babywearing chapter for a water walk in the lazy river at our local water park. I got a workout and DD took a little siesta.  So glad to be done with Strep Throat and so far no MS.
I'm also a bridesmaid in a wedding this weekend.  So glad my dress will fit :)

  • This is a great idea for a hot sunny day! How far does it go?

  • That's a super cute picture! I had my biggish work meeting tonight so that's all done. Tomorrow is my first prenatal appointment! Yaaay! Then a couple of interviews later in the week because we have some open half time positions at work right now. My mom is throwing a party on Saturday so we will go down for that. Busy!

  • What a gorgeous tattoo @ajmcarroll ! Nothing too crazy going on this week but we'll be visiting family this weekend to celebrate my niece's first birthday!

Going to a free ultrasound in a truck tomorrow (sounds so sinister) and attending a festival this weekend.

  • @LastMango thank you! It's not finished.  My second session was scheduled and I found out I was pregnant with DD.  Now I'll never know when it'll get finished.
  • I am going shopping for birthday party supplies for DS.   It is just going to be family and maybe 2 or 3 friends.   We aren't doing a theme because he is all over the place, just bright colors and fun stuff!  Plus we will have it at the lake so no need for entertainment.

I have no exciting plans this week. My dd has gymnastics class, but other than that, just the usual: cleaning, shopping, and our daily walk to the playground. Dh works all week.

  • This is my last week at work before moving so I'm just tying up loose ends as best as I can and finishing packing up the house. Tonight is our end of the year small group picnic, Saturday is a dear friend's child's first birthday party, Sunday we will leave for a week at the beach to celebrate DHs graduation, and we move when we get back. A busy week but all good things :)

  • Outside of my MW appointment and my US, I'm not doing much of anything. I have been tutoring HS students this year to keep my face around the school I usually teach at, and this week I am unloading all of my students because classes are wrapping up. And I am so thankful for that; my patience is wafer thin and all the one on one attention is killing me. I'm so thankful I'm not teaching right now, because my god I don't know how I'd get through... I will miss the students, there are a few I have taught for almost 3 years now, but it's time to say goodbye and let me nap...
  • @amjcarroll - So cute!! Is that a water wrap? I've been trying to research water wraps and slings. Do you like it? How did you pick it?

Welllll I was supposed to be crafting and running errands for my sister's wedding. BUT they called it off this morning :o I'm actually relieved that she is not going to marry him but feel bad she has to go through this. I called al the guests today and vendors to cancel everything for her. Crazy morning!

ETA: I love your RS, did you make it or order from somewhere?

  • @ajmcarroll I want to snuggle your DD (in a non-creepy way of course)!  A water park sounds fantastic.

We have no plans this week.  DH's birthday is tomorrow and DS's birthday is next Friday.  Starting next weekend we have family in town or trips planned every weekend through the Fourth of July.  I plan on taking advantage of a quiet weekend to nap.

  • I'm hoping to get back on track on my workouts this week.  I told my husband that I think the dry cleaner shrunk my pants:(  It's so hard when I only feel like eating the bad stuff!
  • Nothing happening this week. I feel like shit and apparently so does my dog (he wouldn't eat yesterday and threw up last night, otherwise acting fine.) I had H take him to the vet today and it turns out he has pancreatitis  :'( it's 95% H's fault for feeding him people food ALL THE DAMN TIME even when I'm literally sitting next to him saying "you're going to kill the dog, that'll make him sick STOP IT"... Hopefully this is a come to Jesus moment for H about being careless with the poor pup.
  • @TinaBelcher Oh my goodness, I hope your dog (and you!) feel better. What's the treatment like that for dogs?
  • @canavara for him (he's 7 and extremely active and healthy) they gave him some fluids and sent him home with anti-nausea and pain pills, and H picked up some Pepcid for him too.

Our pup who passed away last year had it too, only 2 episodes as his body was getting ready to start failing, but he had to be sedated and on IVs at the vet for a couple of days (he was 15 and ancient but otherwise happy and not in pain)
  • Lots and lots of paperwork related to the closing of our house and the settlement in the new house and all the new daycare paperwork. So. Much. Paperwork. We are the most print people on earth as our lives are currently defined by way too much adulting.

June 11th... it was small so not a lot of people got messed up with travel plans. My dad is pretty pissed. Better than spending the rest of your life with the wrong person though

  • For me this week is kicking off my next to last college class before I get my degree. It's a gen ed "capstone" and it's so ridiculous, one of those classes that requires you to spout off a bunch of "ideas" and "concepts" about extremely vague things like social change and cultural identity. Gag.

30 hour round trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a wedding! We'll be stopping to see H's very sick grandmother on the way, and it very well may be the last time we get to see her. We told her about our pregnancy, and now she's saying she's going to fight until January. We kinda regret telling her because we think she may be making choices that are making her last few months living hell (like undergoing both chemo and dialysis at the same time) to try to make it til then, which is extremely unlikely in any scenario. But either way, we get to see her again as long as she hangs on a couple of days. And while the trip will be exhausting, it should be fun!

  • @poetryandoceans My ring sling (rs) isn't made for the water.  Since I wasn't submerging it,  I wasn't worried about safety issues.  I will be getting a water rs soon (made from athletic mesh).  This one was made from a Target Threshold tablecloth (a long one will make 2!) by a lady in our babywearing chapter.  I like my rs because it's fast,  compact,  and thin for the summer.

@LastMango I can't sew to save my life.  I purchased it from a lady in the babywearing chapter who makes them.  (see above for description)

  • This is my last week of student teaching (yes!) I'm getting observed by my principal tomorrow so I'm nervous about that. Other than that, I'm finishing up my last few assignments and getting ready for graduation!!! (Next Sunday- June 12th)

  • @amjcarroll when you get it, can you let me know how it works out? I'm a huge water baby and I'm hoping to pass that along, so a water sling is pretty high on my "to buy" list
