moxibustion - anyone have success?

Hi guys,

I am currently 36+ weeks and my baby is breech. I have tried a few things and positions to move him but to no avail. My Dr. does not want to do an ECV. I was thinking of trying acupuncture and moxibustion. Has anyone done this and had any success?? I read that it is most successful btw 33-35 weeks, but may still have a positive effect  if you are further along. My insurance doesn't cover this so I will be paying out of pocket and wondering if it is any bit worth it.

Re: moxibustion - anyone have success?

  • Have you tried a chiropractor? It's usually covered and can work.

  • I only tried it once and wasn't convinced to keep doing it...but it's cheap. I went to the acupuncturist and she sold me the moxa sticks which were $5 and the package should last you at least a few sessions. You do the moxibustion at home by yourself (at least that's how mine was).
  • I tried everything with my first pregnancy when my daughter was breech (chiro, moxibustion, and eventually an external cephalic version). Nothing worked.

I tried everything with this pregnancy with this baby being breech (chiro, moxibustion, accupuncture). Confirmed yesterday baby is still breech. Won't be trying an ECV this time around.

So, moxibustion hasn't worked for me, but at this point it's very possible that there is something about my anatomy preventing babies from turning out of breech.
  • thanks guys. yeah, i have been going to a chiro also and still nothing. so this is basically my last resort.
