Pregnancy Journaling/Inspiration Books

I met with three amazing mid wives today and they all recommend that one of the most important things to do in these early stages is to become physically and emotionally connected with your body and thoughts.

So they recommend journaling.

As emotions can run high it's a great way to blow off some steam and or work through some day to day "stuff" and set goals on the side.

Can anyone recommend a good journal with inspirational quotes?

Something to keep your spirits up and positive? :)

Or any great books on the journey of pregnancy (not the typical what to expect) :)

Re: Pregnancy Journaling/Inspiration Books

  • A mama friend did a wordpress or blogger journal of some sort about her pregnancy and the first year of her daughter. When her daughter turned one, she was able to publish it into a book. So it was basically a customized pregnancy/baby's first year book. I haven't seen it in person but from the photos I've seen, it's SO sweet.

  • I never could keep up with my pregnancy journal. Oops.
I really, really enjoyed pregnancy meditation videos on youtube, though. I know its way too 'crunchy' for some people, but there were a few that made me feel super close with my baby, relaxed, and very centered.
I also love love love anything by Ina May Gaskin. Ina May's Guide to Childbirth has a lot of birth stories and just super positive pregnant-lady-empowering stuff in it.

  • @pshaortao what a wonderful idea! Even if it's just for the family

@salilast326 don't worry this post is meant to encourage the granola!

Can you post some links here for us? :)

I will definitely check out Ina May Gaskin
  • There are a lot, so definitely listen to a few different ones. I liked this one though: https://youtu.be/SIwXOj0BOOY

  • @Salilast326 yes!! Ina May is just... Yesss!!

I used Circle and Bloom's meditation program for our IVF cycles and I'll use their pregnancy program too. (Not yet though because sometimes meditation makes me nauseated and I can't handle any more nausea right now  :s
  • I'm a first time mom but I went out and got a cute journal from Barnes and Noble (they have a great selection to fit anyone's taste) and I've been journaling every few days. I find it easiest when I make it so that I'm writing to the baby rather than just making notes. Personally it's helping me develop a bond with my little apple seed already, and it makes me actually want to journal!

Last thing, DH got me the book Buddhism for Mothers and I've just started it but am enjoying it so far. I'm not Buddhist but it is really informative and good for your well-being I think.

  • If you're spiritual, I LOVE Waiting in Wonder... It's a week by week (4 day a week) devotional with a journal prompt each day. It is really really good!!!
  • I forgot - Birth Without Fear & the fabulous January Harshe! Shes on facebook and the blog is https://birthwithoutfearblog.com/ . I absolutely love her, and there are tons of birth stories on there and all kinds of different topics.

I just ordered one on Amazon last night. I got the Belly Book. It seemed to have the best reviews. We'll see when it gets here if I like it.

  • I used "from pea to pumpkin" with my first pregnancy. It has blanks to fill in every week. I also just keep a note in my phone with thoughts.
  • I was given a book for my first pregnancy I have yet to complete.  Now I'll have to complete two.

It's called Letters to my Baby.  It's the size of a long postcard and is meant as a letter time capsule.  It starts with leading or promoting words.  You put an open date on it.
