So.. how popular is Vivian?

I've seen it a lot on the boards, but the latest social security poll say it's only #95 in popularity. I think it's currently our favorite name.. but I really would like a name that isn't TOO popular. I have a pretty unique name (Bryn) and love it..

And if you guys think it's popular.. any other suggestions?

I don't know a single one. Besides Tom Brady & Giselle's daughter, but clearly I don't know them! The lists are so convoluted nowadays that I think anything above like #50 will likely be the only one in their class/school. Plus that's nationwide, check the list for your state and it may be even higher ranked. I think it's a beautiful name.

Something to keep in mind is variant spellings. Many people use Vivienne as a "prettier" spelling of Vivian. Once you add in Vivienne s usage, the name goes from being 95 in popularity upwards of 54ish. A total of 4,602 girls were named Vivian or Vivienne last year.

In the end, only you can really decide what is roo popular or not.

I know a 2 yr old with the name. I think it has become more popular but I wouldn't call it really popular.

My son's name was in the high 70's in popularity for the year he was born, but his name has fallen down the list since the 60s when it was a top 20. He has attended 2 elementary schools, and he has been the only kid with his name at both schools. He knows another boy from karate who is a year older with the same name, but that's the only kid he's ever run into who shares his name.

Unless Vivian has more regional popularity in the area where you happen to live, I think you're pretty safe with a name that's low in the top 100.

My DD's middle name is Vivian, I have two friends that have Vivienne's, there is a Vivienne in my DD's BMB, and there is a little Vivienne that was born in my current BMB (on another website).

I know 2 Vivian's in real life. My neighbour when I was a little kid, and now her granddaughter. I think it is a beautiful name.

I don't know any Vivians, and I worked as a preschool teacher until recently so I know a lot of kids. I love Vivian but sadly hubby doesn't.

I don't know of any babies or kids named Vivian. My mother had a friend named Vivian, so I've always seen it as an older person's name.

I know 3 Vivian/Viviennes and I hear it out and about. I'd consider it popular but not wildly so. While I think Vivienne should be pronounced differently, it seems it has become just the "fancy" spelling in my area.
