December 2016 Moms

Feeling anything yet?

I mean from the baby. Cuz I know we're all feeling all other kinds of heinous.

I felt hiccups today. Rhythmic, little, hiccups as I laid on my side trying to fall asleep for my nap.

I probably won't feel much again for a while, but it was a nice surprise and little reminder of how awesome pregnancy can be once we're done with the barfy part.

Anyone else?

Re: Feeling anything yet?

  • All I feel is cramps, pulling, tugging, RLP, and gas.
I felt DD2 at 14 weeks, but then it was awhile before I felt her again. At least I think it was 14 weeks, it's all a blur now.
  • Loading the player...
  • I have felt a few flutters; mostly when I'm lying in bed at night.  This is number four for me though, and the earliest I've ever felt movement.
  • Sometimes I lie in bed and put my hand on my uterus and will feel a little bump on my hand.  But it could just be gas.
  • @penelope4612 same here! But I'm confident it isn't gas, too low. I can feel it best when my bladder is full. It's usually right in the middle or on my lower left side. Haven't felt actual movement yet. This is my second pregnancy & don't remember this with DD. 13 weeks today!

  • I didn't think you could feel anything yet, I think it was 16 weeks before I could feel DS (I'm 13 weeks now)! Now I will have to pay more attention to see if any of the weirdness might be movement!
  • I was just reading that STMs+ will likely feel movement much sooner because we are able to more clearly identify the feelings. I'm only 9wks now, but I am going to be a little more vigilant now!
I had an anterior placenta with DD and didn't feel definitive movement until much later, so I'm curious to see where my placenta lies this time and how soon I'll feel anything.
  • This is baby #3 and I'm just shy of 13 weeks I feel little flutters usually at night when I'm sitting down. With my second pregnancy I had an anterior placenta, so I never really felt much movement.
  • I was just thinking that I started to feel DD around this time (I'm 10 weeks). Now I'm laying in bed and I can feel little flutters. This is baby #3.

I'm a FTM so I have no idea what to be feeling for at this point. I definitely have some mild cramping that comes and goes and am bloated. I haven't felt any of these so called "flutters" yet so here's to hoping I will soon!

Nothing here! I am curious, would my doc tell me if I had an anterior placenta or is that something I need to ask about? I'm pretty eager to begin feeling some flutters! Right now I just feel flu-ish at 13 weeks because I'm not showing much at all. Would be nice to feel some confirmation that baby's in there having fun :)

  • Yup, I have felt flutters below my belly button for a week or so now. It's not daily, but I have felt it. I also feel what seems like kicks up by my ribs, but I know for fact baby isn't that big or high yet, so idk wtf that is other than phantom kicks maybe.

I haven't felt anything yet! I had such crazy gas movements last night that my belly actually moved when I was laying still. It looked like third tri baby yoga going on but I know it was just gas. I have some other STM friends that started feeling baby around 12 or 13 weeks - I'm hoping for that!

FTMs that mentioned not knowing what you were looking for, I think the best way I can describe it is a flutter or a very light scratch, like if someone lightly ran their fingers along your skin. The first time I felt it I thought it was just my McNuggets talking back to me, but then it happened again. It's so light and hard to identify in the beginning!

  • I thought I felt something the other night. I'm a FTM and only 12 weeks, so it might have been gas. I suspect I'll be feeling things soon, though, as in the ultrasound today baby was wiggling so much!!!

  • Number 4 here and I definitely feel it. Not gas. I'm 12+2. It feels just like the rolling sensation when they are big except for low and on a much smaller scale
  • I'm 10 weeks. I have felt occasional
low flutters but I'm not sure if it's gas. It seems different. This is #2 for me, so maybe I'm feeling the lil sweetie?
  • I'm 13 weeks on Thursday and a FTM, so far I've had a few hiccups of my own and a little bit of gas, but nothing I would ever chalk up to baby moving around. I also didn't think you could feel them until at least 16 weeks. I think they're still too little to feel at this point, but who knows, STMs might just have an easier time telling the difference and be able to feel them sooner. :)

This is baby #2, and I'm 12w5d. I had been feeling little movements that I thought was the baby. I asked the nurse today at my NT scan, and she asked me if I was feeling them at the time, which I said yes. She turned the ultrasound on, and sure enough baby was bouncing all around.
  • Just a whole bunch of rumbling that isn't baby related. I didn't feel LO1 until around 18ish weeks so I probably won't feel this one for a bit longer. I never felt hiccups either so I'm convinced those aren't real.
  • Nothing yet. I felt DS at about 17 weeks. At the time, I remember thinking it felt like a butterfly in my belly. Not that I would know how that felt lol

  • This is baby #3 and I am 12w4d and for the last week or so I have been thinking I have felt little things here and there obviously nothing consistent. Then I started reading this thread a few days ago and NOTHING since then, baby must have known I was looking for it.

Then today out of no where I was standing up talking to a co-worker and I felt what I am sure was baby movement. I stopped talking for a second cause I was so surprised and happy!

  • @ea301 yea, your OB or the US tech would tell you. It never hurts to bring it up though just to be sure!
  • Oh yeah. I'm 14 weeks and I've been feeling flutters and tickling since 10.5 even though this is my first.  At first I thought I was just hopeful but now that it's stronger I know that's what it was. I'm very in tune with my body though. I could always feel myself ovulate, so I figured I'd feel it early. Starting to feel pops like popcorn and sliding a couple days ago. We're in Dominican Republic so the baby is out of its usual routine so that could be the reason for increased and stronger movement. Baby is letting me know what foods it likes and doesn't like as well. Also gives me a couple big pops when I go into the pool!

  • @slartybartfast I think sometimes I come on here just to be cheered up by your posts lol

My due date got pushed back so I'm a little ways behind, but I'm definitely not feeling anything. I didn't feel anything with DD until around 16ish weeks, but I did start feeling hiccups every single day at some point. I thought that it was just rythmic kicking until it happened at an OB appointment and the doctor told me it was hiccups. Near the end of my pregnancy she stopped moving around so much so the hiccups were really reassuring.
  • I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow and all I'm feeling are cramps from what I assume is stretching and growing of the uterus. It is a constant dull ache... Any body know if this lasts the entire pregnancy?

  • @MBS2016 it can last the entire time so I've been told. And some things you do can worsen it. For instance if you don't drink enough water, work a job that your on your feet or you have sex. Relax and put your feet up, drink some water and it should lessen the cramps a bit.

I have not felt anything yet, but I haven't really been paying attention either... I've chalked anything odd up to gas, having to poop or a RLP

  • with my first i always felt the hiccups in my butt. It was a sign he was in good position but it was so awkward. I'd be sitting there trying to have a conversation and trying also to not blurt out "hiccups in my butt" (which I often did with a really goofy smile)
@slartybartfast I hated when this would happen!! I had blocked it out of my memory until I read your comment!  With both DD and DS I could feel their hiccups in my butt all the time. Sooooo annoying. And awkward. And uncomfortable. lol I would always complain to DH about it every time. He always gave me a "better you than me" look. So helpful.

I've been feeling flutters for a couple weeks as long as I was in the right position. Knees bent to chest or sleeping on my stomach. Lately it's become much more obvious. With DD1 I swore I felt her at 14 weeks sometimes but undeniably knew by 15/16 weeks. DD2 I had an anterior placenta and never really felt much out of her except rolling around 26+ weeks. This one my placenta is posterior. After last nights dance party I'm pretty sure this tiny human is going to make themselves known for years to come. Never been a fan of the flutter or rolling motions. Tends to make me feel more nauseous then anything.
