Re: Weekly Appointments 5.30-6.5

  • I have my 2nd OB appt tomorrow at 13w.  Doctor is doing an early glucose screen due to my age and my father being type2 diabetic.  This is my first pregnancy so I'm nervous about the test.  Instructions on bottle say to eat normally but no sugar, gum or candy.  For those that have done it before does that mean no juice or fruit at all?  I can do without gum or candy but fruit has been my one craving and I will struggle with that.  I also will be getting the NIPT drawn tomorrow and need to clarify w my SO whether or not we want to know the sex of the baby.

  • I have my NT scan tomorrow and I'm so excited to see baby again!  The NT scan isn't really necessary since my NIPT results came back low risk by my OB wants to do it anyway since I'm AMA.  I'll gladly take the extra u/s :)

@AMack1216 I'd avoid fruit and juice before your appt tomorrow.  You don't want it to skew your results.  Good luck!

I have my NT scan tomorrow. I've been really crampy, so the ultrasound will hopefully provide some relief.
  • @AMack1216 I'd call the testing site just to be clear. When I went for my glucose test, my OB's office said not to eat any sugar, fruit, juice, etc. So I ate a glucose free protein bar. When I got their, the testing people said I was supposed to be fasting entirely, so I had to reschedule my appointment. Honestly I feel like the testing people were just idiots, but I would double-check just to be safe.

Good luck to everyone with an appointment this week!

  • I have my second OB apt at 10wks+1. Going to get another ultrasound since I'm overweight and the doctor wanted to make sure my measurement was accurate from my first appointment. Not sure what tests I'm doing yet, but I'll check back in tomorrow afterwards!

I've got my NT on Friday. I can't wait to see the baby again, our first ultrasound was at 6 weeks, so it didn't look like much.
  • My second appointment is tomorrow at 12+1 and I am cray excited!! As you guys have seen in other posts, I have been trying really hard not to let myself get anxious but I have had Zero symptoms for the last 3 weeks and can't help but be slightly apprehensive and wanting confirmation that everything is actually okay. I had a very easy pregnancy with my two-year-old as well, but not no symptoms at all the last half of the first trimester so having an appointment tomorrow will be much needed relief. We are also having the blood draw for the genetic testing tomorrow since I am AMA and I'm super excited to get those results as well

  • I have my FIRST appointment on Friday, so the countdown is on! I took the day off, as I first meet with an OB nurse at 12:30, and then the OB at 2:15.

I'm a FTM, so I am not really sure what all gets done besides peeing in a cup, blood taken (which I hate), and more than likely an U/S - I'll be 12w4d then. I am nervous but excited at the same time. We'll tell more people (still just family for now) after, so I am hoping we get an U/S pic so we can send that out with the news.

  • I have my NT on Thursday and feeling strangely anxious about it. I am just ready to see baby again, but nervous there is going to be something majorly obvious that is wrong.

  • My second appointment is today. I kind of fudged my Dr's orders, he said to schedule 4 weeks from my last appointment (7wk). This being my 3rd kid within 3 years, I knew that they wouldn't try to hear a heartbeat until 12+ and there's no way I was waiting until 15 weeks to hear that beautiful sound. Plus, there's like 9 Dr's in the practice so it's easy to fly under the radar. And it's been more like 4 weeks 4 days since my last appointment

I have my 2nd appointment today at 3. They are doing another ultrasound and I think the NT is today. My OB mentioned doing an early glucose test so hoping that's not supposed to be today because I wasn't given any instructions.

Omg. The anxiety is kicking in again. I'm at work and trying to stay distracted, but it's difficult. Feels much like right before I had the first ultrasound. I have no reason to believe or suspect anything (no bleeding at all, mild cramping) but of course that's not enough. DH is going with me to this appointment so that makes me feel better though.

  • Welp, I went to my second appointment today! I was super excited because this was the first time my DH was going, and the doctor was going to give me an actual DD since she didn't want to last time.

I went in thinking I was 10wk+2, due around Christmas. After ultrasound and measurements, they changed me to 11wk+2, due on 12/18! The heartbeat was 180bpm which they said was good. It was so funny during the ultrasound because the baby was facing the screen and it looked like he was dancing, moving his arms and legs around! We had to squish my belly a little to get him to turn to his side for a more accurate measurement, but I just wanted to watch it all day!

Blood pressure and iron came back good, I actually lost six pounds since my last visit four weeks ago. Also had my blood drawn for NIPT testing, which they said I should get back in 7-10 days, along with the sex of the baby!

Fingers crossed for you @Kacie209! He/she cooperated for the NT measurement, but then just kept wiggling!!! I could have watched all day. NT measured low, so doc said probability of Down syndrome was very low. Getting blood tests Friday to check for other trisomies. I have enough of a genetic background to know trisomies can occur even though there is no history. It's all in how the cells divide. Since my genetic testing from when I went to the RE came back normal, there's no need for other testing.

  • Yeah, they told me the same about the NIPT test. Doctor told me medical would only pay for it if I'm high risk, which I'm not. So they used another company (I can't remember the name, it started with an A?) and said that they won't report it to insurance. Out of pocket expense was $135.

First appointment tomorrow just after 9:00, on pins and needles to find out whether everything is ok!
  • Had my appt today. Got all of my labs drawn, including genetic testing. Didn't get the reassurance I was really hoping for though - I told the Dr's nurse about my concerns so the Dr came in aware. He brought a doppler to listen for the heartbeat - he and DH heard it for, literally, about 2secs, I didn't hear it. I was really hoping for a definitive heartbeat, a HB count, maybe a sono... he couldn't find it again after that one brief moment so couldn't say how many beats per minute but didn't seem concerned. I guess I'll just hold out for the blood test results

So my NT scan didn't go as planned today. Baby was bouncing all around, and so the nurse couldn't get the measurements. Everytime she put the ultrasound wand where she needed it, the baby would stop bouncing and curl up in a ball basically. The perinatologist even tried, and the baby did the same thing. The doc was actually laughing and getting a kick out of it. They ended up doing the NIPT blood draw, so we find out what we're having in 7-10 days! Eeek!!!
  • @jennbaylor12 Sorry they couldn't ease your mind. :( I always see people on here posting about bpm, so when the nurse let me hear the heartbeat, I asked her what the bpm was, which was 180. I thought it was high, but she said it was normal. I didn't even know they could do the heartbeat through the transvaginal ultrasound, so definitely have them ease your mind the next time you go in!

  • Had my second appointment yesterday at 10w6d. We got to see baby dancing away I'm there :)

Only thing that made me nervous were blood results for the last appointment (3 weeks ago). My platelet count came back barely low. She said cut off for normal is 140, I was at 133. Took more blood yesterday to recheck and said they will just monitor and only worry if it goes below 100. Anyone else have issues with platelets?
  • Just a question, but how much blood work do they do?

I have a serious phobia when it comes to giving blood, and have passed out, or nearly passed out, when it's been taken. That will be the part I struggle with the most.

  • @Kacie209 So far I've had blood drawn 4 times, but I think that's been more than normal. I'm a total baby when it comes to blood draws, too (although I'm starting to get better now). I had my betas done at 4 weeks, then again 2 days later. Then my regular blood work at my first "real" appointment. And now another round to recheck my platelets, but that's only cause they were abnormal.
  • I was asked to come in on Friday for an ultrasound since they saw a fibroid on my last ultrasound two weeks ago. I'm trying not to freak out because I know fibroids are common but of course I'm driving myself crazy thinking something will be terribly wrong.
  • @tinattt23 Good to know, and obviously everyone is different - depending on what gets check. I have my first appointment on Friday and am a FTM... so I am not sure what to expect.

  • I had my first appointment yesterday, and I was just proud that I made it through the blood work, ha. I am horrible at that stuff.

But anyway... we got an u/s done and the baby looked great! The HB was 158, and the arms and legs were moving around. She didn't get that great of pic for us when it printed out, but I was still happy to just be able to see the baby and know everything was good.

I have my next appointment on June 28! I also plan on going in to get the Harmony test done within the next week, since Down Syndrome is on DH's side. We'll also be able to know if we're having a boy or girl with that test, too!

I had my NT ultrasound yesterday. Everythkng looked great, right on track, and the heart was 164. I was hoping to see some movement but she was just chilling.

Since my NIPT came back all clear I got to skip the blood portion for the NT so I was happy. I'll see my OB next week. I can't believe it will be my third visit already.
