Re: ^*TTCAL TWO WEEK WAIT THREAD*^

  • So sorry for your kitty @MooFish2364 but take comfort that she is no longer in pain and that she had a great 15 years of life because of you!

@dubcompanion your family is in my thoughts about DH's grandpa :(

@MooFish2364 I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is so hard because those little fur faces give nothing but unconditional love.

@dubcompanion sending you good thoughts right now during this tough time.  BDing while dealing with a loss can be totally cathartic and it sounds like is what you both needed.

@a2003tiger some cycles (this last one for instance) my breasts start hurting right after ovulation all the way until AF :(

@MooFish2364 so so sorry about your kitty, that is so so hard <3

@dubcompanion so sorry for your loss as well and glad you were able to have some closeness with DH and hoping it does result in some great news for you and your family <3

  • So, here's a duh moment y'all might relate too. I'm on CD 24, resisting the urge to POAS (lets be honest, though, sticks are like Lay's. You can't pee on just one). With the holiday weekend, I was thinking I should pick up some FRER just to make sure I'm clear for a few cocktails. Wouldn't you know, I picked up a five pack....of regular day-after-AF-pulls-a-no-show tests. Jiminy Christmas. I mean, if that's the worst thing that happens today, it's still a good day, but REALLY? Sometimes I think all these unfinished pregnancies have shorted a circuit and left me with permanent preggo brain.

  • @MissPrint1219 I've done that before! I just tell myself, "At least they don't expire quickly..." And if I do happen to own some that eventually expire, wouldn't that be the dream?? (Ergo, I'm not POAS-ing  every damn month, because I'm KU'ed/carried to term!)

  • Well FF says I'm 3DPO (or 4, we BD instead of temping right around O - which I figure is a good thing - temping won't get me pregnant BD will...). I think what I started suspecting with the help of all y'all last month is true - I think I've got a slow rise pattern - which I suppose is great - because our timing is still ok/good with an O 4 days earlier than I suspected, and it bumps my LP into a much better range. I'll use OPKs next month if I don't get a BFP this month.

Holy crap the clear blue digital OPKs are expensive - $70 (Canadian) at Shoppers Drug Mart for a pack of 20 tests, $53 on Amazon... so I guess the day AF comes I'm making an order because that is quite the price difference.

  • @catiecatp They are super expensive. They are over $50 USD at my CVS locally, but I get them on Amazon for $25 USD. I like them though and use them in conjunction with Wondfos.

@missprint1219 LOL and "permanent preggo brain". I hear you!
  • Thank you everyone for the kind words about my kitty. Sorry I haven't been on much and didn't reply to everyone...I have intentionally booked myself solid this weekend so that I don't have to sit and home and let my mind wander.

  • I'm pretty sure I have a slow rise pattern - and my more sensitive Mabis is picking it up better so FF is picking up on it. Lesson learned - the one I had would be good enough if I didn't have a slow rise pattern. Fingers crossed I don't need to go the route of OPKs but if I do, well Hello Amazon...

@bornready - do you use the advanced digital or the digital ones?

  • @catiecatp I use the Clearable Advanced Digitals, they give a low, high or peak reading. I sometimes skip from low to peak, but not always.

I use them alongside wondfos and will use the clearblue with FMU and then Wondfos during the day to see if I can pick up a darkening OPK. This cycle I tested low in the AM and then noticed some signs, took a Wondfo that was positive and then tried the Clearblue again and got a peak, this was all late evening, around 8 or 9 when I usually start my surge.
  • @BornReady - I was afraid you'd say that - looking at the prices amazon.ca doesn't have a better deal for the advanced digital ones - and amazon.com won't ship them to Canada... about $40 for a month and I think it was $70 for 2 months at the drugstore. But if they could help and are easy to use I suppose I'll pay :)

  • @catiecatp For what it's worth, I rarely use more than 5-6 of the test sticks per cycle. If you have a fairly good idea of when you ovulate and know the other signs, you don't have to start at the CD 8 when they recommend. I usually start when I start seeing signs like EWCM or around CD 10 (I O around CD 12-14). I think their testing is mostly marketed to people who have no clue about their cycle. Hopefully, this cycle will be successful though and you won't need them and this will be a moot discussion!
  • I'm going to come hang over here for the next 2 weeks. This is my first month charting and temping and of course I'm thoroughly confused, FF moved my O day from today to this past saturday so I guess I'll be testing like a lunatic from like now lol. My temps have been up and down this whole cycle. I used wondfo opk and never got a strong positive. I missed saturday thinking I wasn't O'ing til today but I must have missed it while we were away for the weekend. I'm not 100% confident in our timing since my dates moved but it's still possible that it was good enough. I guess time will tell.

  • Joining you all here. Catching up on the weekend I missed.

@MooFish2364 I'm so sorry about your kitty. Sending you hugs.

@dubcompanion I'm so sorry about your loss and that DH's family won't be able to have the celebrations it was planning.  I'm glad to hear your timing didn't suffer, though.

I'm likely 1dpo today. I have one FRER and 3 Walmart cheapies in my bathroom cupboard staring at me. I'm hoping to wait until at least 12 dpo to test. With our timing this month, I don't have high hopes. I will say that I had horrendous O pain that lasted three days and involved both sides, plus a rando temp spike and drop before another spike, so there is a little crazy in me that thinks I hyperovulated. Gonna dive into some distracting projects hopefully these next two weeks.
  • @Wishilivedinflorida i our ovaries are friends this month. And they are bitches. I have had the worst O pains for days now on both sides when mine are normally the day of on just the left.

I I am moving over as well. Temp drop today after 48 hours of +OPKs. Think the black cohosh I added really jump started the girls into gear and I'm hoping it means a very healthy egg(s) this month. Stay in super positive this will be our month and this will be our healthy baby. Mostly because if we have a third loss, im out. So there is no other option besides being positive.

Here's to lots of babies made memorial weekend. Very apropo given our situations
  • So, what's everyone doing about mosquito prevention? I got a few bites this weekend in the middle of the day and I'm totally grossed out. I live in the North East and recognize that we're pretty safe so far up here, but I read this morning a baby was born with Zika in New Jersey (after Mom traveling from Honduras).

@SnobunnieMel That's a lot of positives! Mine were super positive and for longer than usual this cycle as well. What do you use for OPKs?  FX that a healthy egg(s) make you a baby!
  • @BornReady I don't really know what to do about it. I went out to water my flowers in the morning and got bit the other day. I live in the north (Michigan) so I know it's far but I heard the same story this morning and now I'm even more worried. I don't usually use bug spray because I hate the thought of spraying chemicals all over my body...especially since I'm TTC. I wonder if those bracelet things work? Has anyone used those?

  • @BornReady I have heard that deet is safe but I am cautious anyway. When we went camping I found Repel has a natural one that worked great when I was camping. It makes you smell like a citronella candle.

Hopping back on here after a few days' break. We are heading out of state for my grandfather-in-law's funeral, so I've been rushing around the past couple days, trying to get the school year wrapped up. It still hasn't hit me that I'm done working with my students until August. It's bittersweet, even when I could use the long summer break!

It's actually a little hard to believe I'm already a few days DPO (maybe even up to 5-6 DPO). Life's been hectic lately and not slowing down until after AF is predicted to show. I'll actually be visiting family in Alabama around my usual manic POAS phase. So if I don't end up KU'ed this month, at least the potential letdown might not be so bad (or at least, going on seemingly forever), since I'll be so distracted/busy.

The recent Zika chatter on here definitely reminded me that I am heading down south soon. According to the CDC, there are no known locally-acquired cases of the virus. Any bug that bites loves me for some reason, so I'll be showering with my usual amount of DEET (I even have to do it over clothing; nothing stops them from getting to my milkshake) and just hoping that the worst I get are a few miserably itchy days.

@snobunniemel -  Do you use CB advanced digital or CB digital? I have only ever used CB advanced and sometimes have several days in a row of positive OPKs until the solid 48 hour peak face pops up. There have been a few months during TTC where I feel that it's not registering my O correctly, and my physical symptoms of O are more reliable. I'm thinking that when I use them again anyway (because I'm a sucker), I should give Wondfos a try and see if they concur with each other.
  • @dubcompanion I use wondfo and the regular CB digital. They both always line up together well. I only test with CB in the morning once a day but wondfo twice. I seem to start my surge in the afternoon via wondfo and the next 2 mornings I will also get a +on the digital, then by afternoon of that second one, the wondfo is back to negative. Sorry that was run on. This seems to match up with everything else the last two months as well as the month of my first BFP.
  • @SnobunnieMel - Thanks for sharing  Pre-loss, I had more definitive signs of O. I am still aware when I'm in my fertile week, but temping + OPKs are probably the way for me to go now if I want to be more confident about the timing. I like the addition of Wondfos to help provide a clearer pattern, especially while getting used to temping.

I use CB digital and just started using wondfos last cycle. I don't know if I miss my surge or what but I never got a positive OPK last month and I've only gotten a peak once in all the cycles that I've tested. I only get high fertility. Granted I was only testing once a day before- now I will try to test more often with the wondfos. I talked to my OB about it and she said she never tests positive on OPK either and she has 3 children soo....I mean its obvious I'm ovulating (I temp), just frustrating that this tool to help figure out my FW isn't very helpful for me. Will try again this month.
  • I'm back after a little break. I am currently at 9DPO. I had a triggering even this week that I am struggling with.

    *TW: child mentioned*

My youngest just turned 3 and climbed out of her crib after nap Tuesday. So, obviously, to keep her safe it's time to move her to a toddler bed. I know this logically. But here is the thing, her room has been out nursery since 2010 and I am just crushed that the crib is down and put away. I needed it up for my sanity.  I need to see that crib there waiting for our next baby. I know it makes no sense for my kids to share a room when there is no baby for the nursery, but shit, I am so worked up over this inside my head. This isn't how it's supposed to be.  I don't feel done. DH doesn't feel done. What the hell, universe. I am in such a bad headspace right now.
