gbs test..did you do it yourself?

Soon my doctor gave me the swab to do the gbs test at home but the instructions were not very clear. Exactly how far does the thing have to go up your bum? I feel I might have been too shy about it..haha. don't want to get a false negative bc I did it wrong.

I don't do mine until Thursday but my doc/nurse will do it at the appt.

I asked my doc about the test and he said he would swab the vaginal opening first then right around the rim of the anus. I don't think it has to dip in super far or anything. As much as I'm not looking forward to him doing it, I would rather know it is done right and not risk missing something or having to repeat!

Uhhh my dr never swabbed my bum at all.... He just barely got the vaginal opening.

I did it myself. Nurse said a quick in and out of the bum (after the vag swab)-so nothing too far in.

I did it myself at the midwives office. Instructions said 2 cm into vagina and 1 cm into anus. So not far in at all.

My midwife said just the "q-tip" portion in the bum. Honestly, my hemorrhoid are so bad that I doubt I even got that far (TMI, sorry)

My OB did mine, but it was in the vag and then slid down towards my rear but I never felt it go in. Lol I never even knew you could do it at home.

I originally read this as "I'm doing mine right now" to which my response was "ballsy, a little rim action while bumping ". ;-)

My OB's office does it, but this was my 3rd pregnancy, and every time, they've dipped just into my vagina and then over the outside of my rectum. They've never gone into my butt at all.

My OB did mine. It felt like she went into the vag quite a bit but just lightly over the bum.

My midwife had me do mine by myself at the office. They said I had to do enough in the vag to "get the tip wet" and for the butt part "a brown color on the tip is a better sample, so don't be shy" lol.

My dr did mine for me, and also just did the vagina, no anal swab.
