Reese Murphy

The last week has been crazy! I posted in a Facebook group Saturday night if I should be concerned about swelling in my feet, and they told me to go check my blood pressure. So I did and it was high, so my midwife brought me in immediately. After putting me on bed rest and trying multiple ways of getting it down and it not working, along with I was spilling a lot of protein, my midwife told me on the 25th it would be best for me to give birth in the hospital, and I would have to be induced. Completely different from our birth plan which was a natural birth at our birthing center, but I was excited to meet our baby. We came in the morning of the 26th, and I was 1 cm dilated. They gave me Cytotec around 11:00. By 12:00 I was having painful contractions that were overlapping each other with no break in between. After 2 hours of that they checked me and I was dilated to 6 cm! An hour later I was a 7 and begging for an epidural. I didn't plan on it but I was progressing so fast and still had no breaks in between the contractions so I was in so much pain. Over an hour later they finally show up with the epidural and I was in heaven after that. It took forever for him to put it in because I was having constant contractions the whole time though. But after that I was so relaxed, that it was probably another several hours before I was dilated to a 10. After an hour of pushing he was born at 9:09PM. I was 39+2 weeks so we were surprised when he was only 4 pounds 10 ounces! The doctors eyes also got huge and said he looks like a 42 week baby. I'm thanking the Lord for bringing this babe when he did cause we could've potentially lost him if he stayed in any longer. Despite his tiny size he's doing great!
