How long after nesting did you go into labor?

Hi, I'm lurking from the June board.  I'm almost 37 weeks and have been in hyper nesting mode all weekend.  I'm talking on my hands and knees scrubbing the floors, bathrooms, baseboards, etc.  Basically the whole house.  Did any of you notice a correlation between this and when labor started?

Re: How long after nesting did you go into labor?

  • Nope. Sorry.
I had multiple rounds of intense nesting and still had to be induced in the 41st week.

No. My nesting was earlier in third tri. By 35 weeks or so I was back to being lazy and on the couch. No correlation for me.

  • If you check our 3rd tri symptoms/impending labor thread, you'll see something could mean nothing and nothing mean something. The only way to know is: timeable contractions and/or water breaking.
  • I was nesting like crazy around 37 weeks also and I am still pregnant at 39+5...

  • It's completely natural to feel motivated to be ready for baby. I find that getting into house projects and cleaning helps me cope with anxious feelings. It doesn't "mean" I'm about to go into labor any more than getting close to my due date does though. :)

I just had a wave of energy to clean out the pantry and fridge this morning. We also finally finished our nursery yesterday. I gave birth over 2 weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure there isn't another baby hanging out in my uterus.

Postpartum nesting is intense over here too. God I hope there's not another baby in there.
I'm hoping postpartum nesting is a thing! I'm feeling highly motivated but everything hurts way too much to do anything so I've given up. Hoping to have cleaning energy somewhere amid the newborn phase.
  • Anyone suffering from postpartum nesting needs to come clean my house!

LO isn't gaining weight properly, so every other hour I'm having to wake up LO, breast feed for 30 min. followed by pumping for 15, cleaning equipment, and feeding pumped milk. Basically, it takes 1 - 1 1/2 hours to complete these steps, so I only get 30-60 minute breaks between cycles. I'm exhausted and have no time/energy for anything else.

Getting back to OP's question, there's no link between nesting and going into labor. If there was, I wouldn't have a LO yet because I never really nested before LO was born - DH did the nesting late first trimester.

    About 7 months later.
    This .
  • Seriously 8 months later. I found out at about 4 weeks and since then both DH and I wrote a crazy to do list and worked on it all the time for months.
It was a lot of work but the cool thing is that the house really came a long way as did all the various projects, food, etc.
