Hi,
FTM here, currently 38w 1d. This pregnancy was rough for me. Had morning sickness pretty much the whole time, suffered from migraines, weight loss etc. One thing I went through that I don't wish upon anyone is losing my mother from cancer in my second trimester. With that came a lot of stress, obviously. Watching your mother die is one of the hardest things anyone has to go through.
My question is, I have read that the stress hormone cortisol is very bad during pregnancy and can cause negative effects for baby such as being premature and underweight and also more likely to experience developmental delays and metabolic diseases. Has anyone experienced this before in a very stressful pregnancy? Was your baby effected by your stress? Was your baby fine? Any insight would be helpful.
thank you!
Re: STM's or more, question for you
With my first, my father was diagnosed with cancer when I was three months pregnant and passed away 3 months later so I know exactly what you are going through with regards to your mother. As long and you did your best to take care of your body by eating, sleeping, and drinking enough your baby is going to be fine. I gave birth to a healthy 8lb girl at 40 weeks. She is now a healthy and highly energetic 5 year old.
Didn't help the intense mourning period because I was already aware how I could lose anyone I cared about at anytime since I had already lost a major relationship, was I going to lose my baby too?
That baby is now a toddler, happy, healthy, funny, full of energy and honestly perfect.
Take care of yourself and focus on that wonderful blessing of your sweet baby.
