Hi All,

I'm new to this board and just wanted to introduce myself - it seems like a great place with lots of support. Our issue is that we are old - I'm 43 and my DH turns 44 in July. We just got married in December 2015 - he's very traditional and didn't want me to go off the pill until we were married. Because we know the odds are against us, we went to an IVF specialist immediately, as advised by my OB/GYN. We did all the tests and just as we thought, our odds of getting pregnant naturally are virtually impossible. After much discussion about finances, the roller coaster ride this will be and the fact we will be older parents (IF it works), we decided to go for it and are scheduled for our egg retrieval in mid-July (I should state that neither of have children but we've both been married before - we do have a fur-baby :)). We were advised to do all the genetic testing, which means we can't do the FET until September. We're both on fertility supplements and I started acupuncture yesterday. I've got a lot of anxiety about all of this - acupuncturist advised cutting way back on my exercise routine, which is an outlet for me and wine - no more alcohol. Argh (Memorial Day Weekend is my last hurrah). We eat very healthy so that's not much of an issue. I know the end result will all be worth it. Thanks for listening and I look forward to getting to know everyone. I know I haven't gone through nearly what most of you have gone through but hope to contribute as much as possible. I'm getting used to the acronyms so my apologies if I spell out everything initially :)

IVF #1 canceled due to poor response - 7/12
Figuring out next steps

    Welcome to our little community! So glad you found us :) Best of luck with your ER and FET! My DH and I are starting IVF soon as well. Feel free to join us in the June/July IVF thread!

    Hi and welcome @OCfortythree!  It sounds like you've got a great plan going forward.  Wishing you luck and smooth sailing.  I'm sure it's a lot to process all at once but just take it one step at a time.  I'm really sorry to hear about the no wine policy - that is tough!  I love wine!

    Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and @lady_gray, yes, the wine thing is going to be a tough one because I LOVE wine too. I found a non-alcoholic version called Ariel - it's not great but it's better than nothing. The cab is the best one. @cmm012 - thanks and I've seen a couple threads I'm going to hop in on - namely the "over 40" one :) Thanks for the tip. @wifeinraleigh28 - yes, I'm in Orange County, CA - Rancho Mission Viejo, specifically, which is next to Ladera Ranch. Where are you from? There are a gazillion kids within 100 yards of us and lots of pregnant folk, which should make this an interesting journey for me. I will definitely join the June/July thread, thank you!! xoxo

    @wifeinraleigh28 - small world! My cousins live in Raleigh (assuming you're i NC) and my DH's bff just moved there as well. It's a beautiful there!

    @OCfortythree Yes I'm in Raleigh NC. I moved here 4 years ago exactly and I love it! Of course I miss OC, but it was a good move for me :)

    DX: Unexplained secondary infertility 

    History:
    Multiple months of Clomid/Femara
    End of March 2015: BFP with Femara! Saw heartbeat at 5.5 weeks. M/C at 11 weeks
    Multiple more months of Femara
    IUI #1 with Femara and Follistem 75 units: BFN
    IUI #2 with Follistem 150 units: BFN
    Dec 2015: 1st IVF. 10 eggs retrieved with 8 eggs fertilized.  5 day transfer of two embryos with 2 frozen embies. BFN
    January 2016: FET #1 2 embryos: BFN
    March 2016: 2nd IVF cycle. 4 eggs retrieved with 2 fertilized. Quick two day transfer of both embryos: BFN
    April/May 2016 IVF #3. 11 eggs retrieved. 10 mature.  7 fertilized.  2 5AA blasts transferred 5/11/2016 BFN
    September 2016 IVF #4: 17 follicles growing, premature ovulation through Cetrotide. Retrieval cancelled. 
    April 2017 IVF #5: 9 follicles growing, 6 eggs retrieved with 5 fertilized. Transfer of three blasts. BFN
    June 2017: IVF #6: 2 follicles growing, 5 eggs retrieved with 5 fertilized. Transfer of 5 3-day embryos. Chemical pregnancy. BFN
    Nov/Dec 2017: Donor egg cycle. 33 eggs retrieved, 26 mature. 26 fertilized.

    If my 6th and final IUI doesn't work we will be moving to IVF too. My egg retrieval would be sometime

    3rd US 7/15/16 - Baby #1 right on schedule! FHR 168!!! Discharged from RE!!!!
