Separation anxiety?

Hi ladies
I'm im need of some advice. Sorry if this is long. LO is 8 months now and she was a great sleeper until about 5 months old. She used to get up once a night and then after 5 months she was up every couple hours. A little over a week ago I started letting her cry it out since I knew she was waking bc she wanted to be nursed or rocked back to sleep(how i use to put her to sleep...bad habit I know). She's done great and is now STTN again. However I was on vacation this wk and she seems to have developed separation anxiety from me during the day. I can't put her down at all. She only wants me to hold her. I'm hoping when she's back at my mother in laws next week and back on a schedule that will help. Jw if anyone has experienced this? Thanks for listening!:)

Re: Separation anxiety?

  • Yes. It's normal and a good sign that she has a secure attachment to you! Kudos to you for being a responsive and attuned mama!

I often feel frustrated when my daughter gets clingy like this and have a tendency to want to make her more Independent. But I do think that would only make her feel more uneasy, so I just hold her and sit with her as much as I can tolerate. :)

  • Thanks! I've basically just been trying to spend time with her to reassure her. The hard part is I have a 3 yr old that needs me too. Hopefully these LO's give us a break soon!
