Does anyone live in Virginia Beach, VA?

Hi!

my husband is active duty and we are moving to Virginia Beach. We are in the process of finding a rental house there since it's only 2 year orders. Does anyone have and advice regarding good communities to live with children or places to avoid? Thanks in advance! Happy Saturday!

    I don't live there but my ex was active navy and was stationed at Norfolk got a while. We lived in Yorktown in housing there and currently a friend lives on Fort Eustis. I loved the Yorktown area. Close to everything (Williamsburg, Norfolk, va beach, etc) but wasn't crazy touristy of an area. Having Eustis right there is nice and there is a small beach in Yorktown that's like a little inlet place so the waves are minimal do perfect for the littles. 

    ETA: I'm an October mom but lurk here a lot

    I live in the Hampton Roads area and have rented in a couple places in VA beach. Which base will he be stationed at? Chix beach has been my favorite area. It is along the bay where locals go rather than the tourist areas of va beach. I would stay away from Chimney Hill and Greenrun area in va Beach.

    He will be stationed at Little Creek. We are looking at a rental in the Glenwood area currently. Do you know anything about that area?

    Little creek is right next to chix beach. :) I don't know anything about Glenwood. I googled it and it doesn't look like it is next to the bad areas that I know of. Bit of a commute to Little Creek though. Interstate gets backed up during rush hour.
