Just curious if anyone on here as their littles in modeling. I know everyone thinks their babe is just the cutest. I was thinking about just submitting some photos of my girl and seeing what happens. Anyone else?
She's adorable! I thought about it when Halo was sponsoring a casting call in my area (MN), but then I read a few articles about child modeling and decided it wasn't for me! From the casting calls that can take hours with a bunch of other screaming babies in the room to all the germs you'd be exposing your baby to from other kiddos (especially a few months ago during flu season), I decided it wasn't for us! Plus, considering little guy takes a morning nap and an afternoon and is not a happy camper when he doesn't get them, the timing would just be hard. And to be honest, I don't want to spend my one day off a week or weekends sitting in a room trying to entertain him when I could be taking him to the park, zoo, etc.
But, some people enjoy it! I think it all depends on your personality and baby's personality. Doesn't hurt to try it if you're interested, and if you end up not liking it or baby hates it, you stop
Yeah, I more than likely wouldn't do it. It is fun to toy with the idea of seeing her in print. It would be pretty cool! But it does take a lot of work!
I don't know if I would, but we get told on a daily bases by any and everyone my LO looks just like the Gerber baby. LOL He does, it's just funny when we hear it every single time we take him out.
My 7 year old is an actress and has an agent. It's a lot of work and I sometimes have up call out of work on short notice or decline roles due to my schedule. She loves it and her agent is awesome. We are 25 miles from NYC so there's a lot of castings!
Its also expensive. Head shots here are around $500.
Apparently, I also have a Gerber baby! She's the cutest, most beautiful baby girl I've ever seen. (No way am I biased )
I've had lots of people suggest we enroll her in modeling but it just doesn't feel right to me. Not that there's anything generally "wrong" with modeling/acting for kids, I just am not too keen on opening her to that level of publicity without her permission.
We did this with my first when she was around this age for a few months. For babies, the work is really only around NYC and LA, some around Miami. She had an agent. She was requested for the Gap casting, her agent submitted her. It's a business and you are expected to be at everything the agent sends you to unless you are booked out. Almost all castings occur during the week, I think only Oshkosh has had castings on a weekend. It's almost impossible to do unless you are a stay at home parent or have a flexible job. The pay for print work for kids under five is typically very low. The only decent pay is for commercial television work (fisher price, Graco, etc) so don't go into this expecting to make money. Most kids will spend more doing this than what they make. A reputable agent will never charge you money to sign with them and kids under 5 should never need professional photos because they change so quickly. Run the other way if an agent wants you to pay for lessons, photos, to submit your child, or some other fee to sign with them. Backstage.com is a great resource. PM me if anyone actually wants to do this and I'll give you some names of reputable agents in the NYC area.
@kkerner87 she's beautiful! It does take a lot of your time up, and yes, there is a lot of waiting round and travelling involved. (I used to model myself) it's not as easy as people think it is! Also, agree with pp, a reputable agent will never ask you for money to be signed with them. Just pay for the prints to build her portfolio up. Editorial work doesn't pay much at all. Catalogue work, pays well. (I'm in the uk so maybe different over here) However editorial work does help with your child's portfolio, clients can see what previous work your child has done, which helps with further work. Commercials are the money earners for sure! I'm going to get my eldest, Liam (he's 8) signed up in the summer holidays, and if they take Jakey too, great! I'm not working, so have a lot of time on my hands. He's really excited about it, and just loves performing whenever I get my camera phone out. I think it's a great way to build up your child's confidence. It certainly helped with mine. I'm not in it for the money, just would love to let my child have the experience that I had. Best of luck ladies, to those who have entered competition's! Your little ones are adorable!
Eta: do I balls have a lot of time on my hands with a 8 month old & an 8 year old! Haha, just meant I'm not committed to a job.
I see soooooooo many precious babies on a weekly bases around my area! Baby models everywhere!!! It is funny when a lady will stop us at the store and give us a five minute convo on getting our baby into modeling because 'he's so beautiful for being a boy' ha! My DH thinks everyone is crazy. He's like 'aren't all babies this cute?!'

ETA- this was just for pure fun. We have no real hopes/expectations of her winning or trying to get her into it on a regular basis.
