Lower back pain

Hi ladies,

Im 6w 5days pregnant with baby number two and have been having dull, chronic pain in my tailbone for the last few days. When I sit it feels like there's a huge bruise there and the discomfort doesn't go away at any point. I'm thinking my uterus might be hitting a nerve, or my body might be shifting around. Has anyone encountered this yet? Should I be concerned? Any stretch recommendations?

Re: Lower back pain

  • I think it's normal to feel this in the beginning. I'm having hip pain already :(  I would try child's pose, that always help me stretch my out nicely.

I haven't had that with pregnancy, but I have had a pilodinal cyst that caused pain like that before. TMI: Is the skin at the top of your butt crack super sensitive? If so, that might be the cause and your doctor can take care of it, though healing is intensive. I thought I had fractured my tailbone (as a reference for the pain) or it felt like a really deep bruise. I hope that it's not what that is, but I've helped friends figure out they have one with descriptions similar to yours (minus the pregnancy). Good luck and let us know!

  • My tail bone doesn't feel bruised, BUT the same ache I had in my lower back with DS has already made a comeback
  • Call your OB. It may be worth going in for an early scan for peace of mind. Meanwhile, Tylenol.
  • I've had chronic lower back pain since I had my BFP. I try to sleep with a body pillow to support my lower back and then stretch in a few yoga positions when I wake up (cat, cow, child's pose). The doctor said more than likely it will worsen if you had back pain pre-pregnancy (I've had back spasms since I was 16). She also recommended I look into prenatal yoga or physical therapy depending on the level of pain.
